0:50

0:52
on there we were talking about what
0:54
seeds to plant in February and also what
0:57
jobs needed doing in February on the
1:00
allotment and in the garden so if you've
1:02
not listened to them make sure you have
1:04

1:07
you've not checked out my other podcast

1:25
the podcasts what we're going to record
1:27

1:50

1:53
so what are we going to talk about today
1:55
in Monday's podcast well we're going to
1:58
talk about what jobs we are hoping to
2:01
get up to down on my lopment because now
2:05
I've got 4 days off as you probably
2:07
listen into this on Monday morning I'll
2:09
be in bed cuz I have just finished
2:11
nights and I will be sleeping and
2:15
hopefully I'm going to get on the plot
2:17
on Monday afternoon which depends on the
2:19
weather if it's shocking weather which
2:21
it's been all weekend I'm so glad I've
2:24
been working this weekend because I
2:26
certainly wouldn't have wanted to been
2:27
down at the plot even in my shed doing
2:29
jobs I still probably wouldn't have
2:31
fancied being down in the horrible windy
2:34
weather what was happening hopefully all
2:37
my allotments still standing still
2:39
because I certainly had to do quite a
2:41
few repairs last week on the plot
2:44
especially with my shed I had to fix a
2:47
window which had
2:49
broken and also put some fencing up what
2:53
had come down over the last few months
2:55
so I've been getting those repairs done
2:57
and that is what Winter's all about it's
2:59
all about without getting those repairs
3:01
done and fixing any issues on your plot
3:03
that you need to get done so this week
3:07
we're going to be
3:08
concentrating on my main plot area this
3:12
is the biggest area that I need to get
3:15
cleared and I'm setting myself one month
3:18
to get it cleared and tidy and fingers
3:21
crossed by the beginning of March it
3:24
will all be cleared and tied and then we
3:27
will be moving on to getting my shed
3:30
ready for the sewing of all my seeds
3:33
because that is when we start sewing all
3:36
the seeds and I've still got a lot more
3:39
seeds left to get and I've still got to
3:43
look at what I've got I keep saying this
3:45
is my podcast you need to organize your
3:47
seeds and I certainly need to do it
3:48
myself because I've got so many packets
3:51
of seeds I'm just looking at them now
3:53
they just staring at me in a carrier bag
3:55
not organized not sorted out and I
3:58
really do need sort all my seeds out so
4:02
that is one job that needs doing but
4:05
we're going to be concentrating on my
4:06
main plot area and I've got all my beds
4:10
to empty and get cleared I've got all my
4:13
paths to sweep up and get rid of any
4:16
rubbish what's lying around and it's
4:18
case of just getting it all looking
4:21
empty ready for the year ahead so that
4:24
there's no weeds around no old
4:26
vegetation around no old dead flowers
4:29
around around and if there's any seed
4:31
heads around gather them up and I can s
4:34
them again this year so hopefully we're
4:37
going to have a nice empty pot Plot In A
4:40
month's time but it all depends on the
4:42
weather obviously because like I said
4:45
this weekend's been absolutely terrible
4:48
but we can't complain at the weather for
4:49
this winter it's not been a bad winter
4:53
whatsoever compared to the winters that
4:56
we usually get it's not being cold it's
4:59
not been snowing it's we've had a couple
5:02
of Frosty mornings but not many
5:04
whatsoever so this is giving me such a
5:08
head start into the year getting it all
5:11
tided and prepared and getting it all
5:14
ready so hopefully we can get that done
5:18
and now that the Daylight's coming
5:22
earlier in the morning I can get there
5:24
probably half an hour earlier than I
5:27
usually do or even possibly hour uh it
5:31
all depends when the Sun
5:33
rises and that will add extra time in
5:37
getting stuff done and I'm going to set
5:41
myself half an hour to spend in my shed
5:45
and my poly tunnel getting that tided as
5:48
well because I keep putting off going
5:51
into my shed of my poly tunnel to get
5:53
the work done because I usually like to
5:55
do that when it's raining and we've not
5:58
been getting no rain on but days off so
6:01
they keep getting pushed back and pushed
6:03
back but we do need them to start
6:05
getting ready and getting them tied and
6:09
like I say I've not used my polyon now
6:12
for I didn't use it last year whatsoever
6:15
so all the bits and Bobs that I've been
6:18
clearing off my plot I just shove in my
6:20
poly tunnel to keep them dry and to keep
6:22
them away and it's an absolute bomb site
6:26
trust me if you saw it you'd think he's
6:29
a messy Gardener I never show that on my
6:32
live videos but I might actually take a
6:34
picture of what it looks like now and
6:37
after I've cleared it I won't show you
6:39
what it looks like until after I've
6:42
tided it and cleaned it up uh because I
6:44
don't want you thinking oh God look at
6:47
him but yeah um I've got all that to
6:51
do but hopefully we'll spend quite a lot
6:54
of time down there this week I may even
6:57
take my sandwiches down there and start
6:59
spending longer down at the plot because
7:02
usually I'm leaving the plot about
7:04
1:00ish because I've had enough by then
7:08
uh after getting down there at about
7:09
half n uh but I do need to start putting
7:12
in a couple of extra hours to get a bit
7:14
more done and to get it done because I
7:17
want to get the best looking plot I've
7:20
had in years this year and without
7:23
putting the time and the effort in I
7:25
can't get it done and now that I work sh
7:29
shifts it's ideal for spending so much
7:32
time down at the plot because I'm
7:34
working four on four off so I get 4 days
7:38
on the allotment and if you're setting
7:41
yourself little goals like I often do I
7:44
always say work on an area at a time and
7:48
concentrate on that bit rather than
7:51
doing everything all at once just
7:54
concentrate on certain areas and that's
7:56
what I do so if I've got four days off
8:00
I'm going to be really going for it on
8:03
the plot and I can get lo done if I try
8:07
um it's just not getting distracted
8:09
while I'm down at the plot cuz obviously
8:11
you've got social media now and stuff
8:13
like that and people messaging me and
8:16
yeah um it's hard not to get distracted
8:19
when you're down at the plot now and
8:21
that's what I tend to do quite a bit but
8:23
I bought myself a d radio with some of
8:27
my Christmas money so I listen to that
8:29
now while on the plot and that gives me
8:31
the motivation to keep on going as well
8:33
and sometimes it helps if one of the
8:35
other plot Neighbors comes down because
8:38
that encourages you to stay down there
8:40
as well so I'm looking forward to this
8:43
week and now that I'm starting to see
8:47
light at the end of the tunnel I'm happy
8:50
with how the plot is coming along um but
8:54
I'll be sharing a picture of what it
8:56
looks like at the moment later today
9:00
uh so you'll be able to see how much
9:02
I've got to clear in that month which is
9:04
manageable it's definitely manageable uh
9:07
I could easily get it done uh but yeah
9:10
stay tuned for that picture and like I
9:13
said I've got seven podcasts lined up
9:17
for this week uh We've obviously just
9:19
got to record them all but I hope you do
9:22
enjoy these podcasts because I'm getting
9:24
so many people listening to them now it
9:27
really does baffle me um how many people
9:30
around the world as well it last last
9:34
year I were only getting like 1,000
9:36
downloads a month and this year I'm now
9:39
getting 8,000 a month so it just goes to
9:43
show how many people are listening to
9:45
these podcasts and it's unbelievable I
9:48
just thank you all for the support of
9:49
doing it and it pays towards buying my
9:53
seats for my plot and stuff like that so
9:56
the more people that listen to it the
9:58
more people op back into my plot and you
10:00
can get the enjoyment out of all the
10:02
photos and seeing all the stuff what
10:04
grows and again like I said I don't grow
10:07
it all for me to eat I share it with
10:09
friends work colleagues and everything
10:11
as well so it's not all just for me a
10:14
lot of my gardening is to get the
10:16
enjoyment and for the mental health it's
10:19
not always for the fruit and the
10:20
vegetables so thank you for all your
