Welcome to our weekly roundup and
0:02
welcome to Gardening with Ben. So, this
0:04
is our weekly roundup of what we've been
0:06
up to down at the a lotment and in the
0:08
garden this weekend. We have been busy,
0:11
busy, busy. Today, it's been absolutely
0:13
chucking it down. Yesterday, we have got
0:16
lots and lots done. Rain doesn't stop
0:18
me. The only thing that stops me coming
0:19
to the a lotment is snow. I'll even come
0:21
when it's frosty or when it's chucking
0:23
it down windy. I'll always come down at
0:26
the weekend because this is my happy
0:27
space and the I love to spend my
0:30
weekends. So, what have we been up to
0:33
this weekend? Well, we hit 29K followers
0:35
on Facebook. Absolutely amazing. I can't
0:38
believe it. That's where I started all
0:39
my social media on Facebook. And the
0:41
community we've got on there is
0:43
absolutely brilliant. I love it. And
0:45
yeah, it just keeps on growing. We're
0:47
getting about a thousand followers on
0:48
there every month. So, it's getting
0:50
massive. Soon we'll be at 30K. Fingers
0:52
crossed within a month. We'll see how
0:54
well we get on with that. So yeah, keep
0:57
sharing, keep liking the post, and keep
0:58
commenting and helping me grow my page.
1:02
So this weekend, we have finished off
1:05
potting up the easy fill hanging
1:07
baskets. We've put strawberries in the
1:08
top and they're all fed. We've put some
1:12
food in them. We're giving them this
1:13
week's watering. We're only watering
1:15
them once a week to start off with as
1:18
you don't want to cause root rot, which
1:19
can happen with strawberries. So we'll
1:21
water them once a week. When it gets a
1:22
bit warmer, we'll water them possibly
1:24
twice a week and then when it gets
1:25
really warm every single day. But we're
1:27
going to set up a drip irrigation system
1:29
for that so it'll keep them watered on a
1:31
regular basis. I'm going to get a solar
1:33
pump and yeah, I've used one in the past
1:35
and they're absolutely brilliant. We've
1:37
also finished off building all our
1:39
raised beds in here in the poly tunnel.
1:41
So, we've got 14 raised beds in here
1:43
now. So, 14 new places to grow produce.
1:46
This gets the full sunlight in here and
1:48
it gets warm. So things will grow a lot
1:51
faster and better in here because you
1:53
won't get as many pests or things
1:55
disturbing it or birds and stuff in
1:57
here. So yeah, fingers crossed we get
1:59
some great produce in here. So I'm still
2:01
thinking about what to grow in each bed
2:02
at the moment. I'm going to have to draw
2:04
a plan. Like I always say, draw a plan
2:06
and have a look at what seeds are around
2:08
to grow. I want to grow some unusual
2:10
stuff as well. So we'll have a look
2:12
around and see what we're getting
2:13
growing in them. We've also planted out
2:15
our fox gloves which are grew from seed.
2:18
We started them off in August, September
2:20
time and yeah, they're looking healthy
2:22
and really big. So I planted them
2:24
outside because I'm running out of space
2:25
in the shed. I'm going to need that for
2:27
growing all my seeds next month. That is
2:29
our busy month, March, when we sew all
2:31
our seeds. The only ones we've got sewn
2:33
at the moment are chilies, peppers, or
2:38
and sweet peas. We've sewn our sweet
2:40
peas as well this weekend. We've got
2:42
them done in our root um root trainers
2:47
which we got from Oakland Gardens and
2:49
yeah, we've got them sewn and hopefully
2:52
we'll get some great sweet peas down at
2:54
the plot this year. So overall, we have
2:56
been very busy down here at the plot and
2:59
I filmed some videos for you for this
3:01
week and hopefully you'll get to see
3:02
them all. So make sure you hit the bell
3:05
so that you see all the videos what come
3:06
up. But next weekend we're going to have
3:09
another busy weekend. And I think it's
3:11
going to turn a bit colder this week, so
3:13
they've said. So, we'll see what jobs
3:15
we've got to do next week. We haven't
3:16
got much to do at the moment. We're just
3:18
tidying up. Like I said, March time is
3:21
when I sew all my seeds when it's warmer
3:22
in my unheated greenhouse. I've done
3:24
that for years now, and everything's
3:26
grown really well. So, we're waiting for
3:28
March before we sew all our seeds. So,
3:31
it's a busy time down at the plot. I'm
3:33
looking forward to this year and seeing
3:35
what we grow and hopefully get some good
3:37
success down here at the plot. But yeah,
3:39
I hope you've enjoyed this weekly catch
3:41
up and thanks for all the shares, the
3:44
comments, the likes, the support that
3:46
you do give me. It really does mean a
3:48
lot and I love this little gardening
3:49
community we've got. So, as always
3:51
everyone, remember, keep smiling, keep
3:53
shining, and keep gardening with Ben,
