hey everyone and welcome to gardening
0:03
with Ben in today's video we're going to
0:05
give you a weekend in the life of
0:07
gardening with Ben down here at the
0:08
alment sharing what we get up to and
0:11
what we get accomplished hopefully we
0:13
get lots done but we'll soon see
0:16
hopefully the weather stays decent it's
0:18
been spitting a bit this morning but
0:20
hopefully we get lots done and lots
0:24
accomplished so first job of the day is
0:27
filling my bird feeders up obviously I'm
0:28
only coming down here at week now so we
0:31
need to keep them filled up and fill
0:33
them up each weekend they're not just
0:35
all of them we've got a load more bird
0:37
feeders dotted around the plot so we've
0:39
got to get them all filled up one of
0:41
them's already got plenty in it I know
0:42
my dad's filled it up but yeah let's
0:45
fill all the overs up so we got all the
0:48
bird feeders filled up so we need to
0:50
hang them all back up back to where they
0:52
belong ready for the birds to eat them
0:54
all so we got the bird feeders filled
0:56
back up we've got some fat in it we've
0:59
got some seeds we' got some peanuts and
1:01
we need to put some water in the bowl
1:03
for them but that's one job to do and
1:05
then we've got some fat balls got some M
1:08
bird
1:12
seed and we've got some sunflower
1:15
seeds and we got some SE and some more
1:18
bird seed so yeah plenty to keep them
1:21
going but mind you the squirrels seem to
1:24
eat most of it hence why I would put the
1:26
little uh Bowl around the bird feeder to
1:30
stop the squirrels and the Rats
1:32
hopefully taking all the bird seed off
1:35
them so yeah that's a little bow we've
1:38
bought to put around it to stop the
1:41
squirrels and the
1:43
racks one of the things that I like to
1:45
do during the winter period and the
1:47
Autumn period is Tiding my plot up and
1:49
get it all looking Ship Shape ready for
1:52
next year hopefully weed feet that is
1:54
the plan and obviously all the paths
1:57
tidied and cleaned up so we've got to
2:00
sweep them all up and get all the old
2:02
compost and soil and weeds that I just
2:04
Chuck on them uh when I'm weeding I'm
2:07
not tidy carder I should be really uh
2:10
but yeah we've got us paths to clean up
2:12
as well so that is so that is one job
2:15
that we're going to do
2:16
today so this is my main path what leads
2:19
to my shed it's not too bad that's my
2:21
old boob not a very good one we've got a
2:23
wooden one now but yeah we're going to
2:25
sweep them up sweep up that path as well
2:27
which leads to my plot with working his
2:30
way around the plot bit by bit so one
2:34
thing I like to do is write lists of
2:35
jobs what I'm going to do when I'm
2:37
coming down I don't overwhelm myself I
2:40
just do little jobs and a few jobs each
2:43
weekend so that I get it all tided and
2:46
Ship Shape ready for the next year and
2:48
yeah if you do it bit by bit you'll get
2:50
it all sorted ready for the year ahead
2:53
and that's what I tend to do so we've
2:55
got us broom so we best get to action in
2:57
tidying up all these paths
3:00
and getting them looking better so I
3:03
want my garlic to do really well this
3:05
year I want to get some good crops from
3:07
them so I'm going to give them some
3:08
fertilizer to keep them fed and
3:11
hopefully get the nutrients they need
3:13
because this we wet weather will help
3:16
it dissolve into the soil and feed the
3:19
garlic plants so let's see what we're
3:22
feeding them
3:23
with so this is the Garlic what's doing
3:25
well so far I'm going to have to take
3:27
this netting off soon because it'll be
3:29
too hard to get off with the shoot SP I
3:31
popping through but yeah I put net in of
3:33
it to stop the squirrels from pulling
3:35
out all the garlic cloves and to give it
3:38
a head start we need to push some of
3:39
them back in they're popping out from
3:41
the roots that I've pushed them out but
3:43
yeah it's growing pretty well so the
3:46
fertilizer we've got is from Simply seed
3:50
so we're going to use that and we're
3:52
going to sprinkle some over the side to
3:54
feed them
3:55
with so it looks pretty good stuff so
3:58
yeah let's just sprinkle it
4:05
over we're not putting too much down so
4:08
then we can keep feeding them all the
4:10
way through
4:14
winter so yeah hopefully that'll help
4:16
feed
4:17
them so my jobs over the winter are to
4:20
clear my beds bit by bit clear all the
4:23
paths clear all the sides of my plots
4:25
and get it all tied out and I'm getting
4:28
there I'm doing a few beds each week and
4:30
working my way up the plot so today
4:33
hopefully we're going to get these two
4:35
beds cleared as you can see they're the
4:38
worst beds out of the lot but yeah
4:40
hopefully we're going to get these
4:41
cleared and then hopefully as well this
4:43
weekend we're going to get all that
4:45
fencing cleared down all the brambl
4:47
taken off all the bind weed pulled out
4:50
and hopefully get that path back in use
4:52
again down that side but yeah we're
4:55
working as way up and then one job will
4:57
be to clear that top area which you can
4:59
see it's an absolute mess but we'll get
5:02
there we'll get it all done we'll get it
5:03
all done ready for M May time when we're
5:06
planting out it'll all look neat and
5:08
tidy again so yeah let's get all this
5:11
cleared out which is going to be a tough
5:13
job but we'll get there so i' cleared
5:16
one of the Beds which had absolutely
5:20
loads of brambles in it bind weed it's
5:23
not completely cleared obviously as you
5:24
can see but the frost and the cold
5:27
weather will kill down the weeds what
5:28
I've dug over
5:30
and they'll have proper dig overs before
5:32
planting them next year but at least
5:34
we've got all the main weeds down and
5:36
it's looking better so next up is that
5:39
bed another hard bed to clear but we'll
5:42
get that that's our jobs for today and
5:45
then obviously I'll be working on this
5:47
bit down the
5:49
side well I'm absolutely shattered from
5:54
digging them over but we've got them
5:56
cleared like I said they're not
5:57
brilliant but uh they'll have pled M
6:00
digs over before we're planting them
6:02
next year but it's about getting all the
6:03
main weeds out all the Bramble roots and
6:07
get it all cleared so I can see where
6:09
things are and hopefully get lots of
6:12
more cleared from them try and get all
6:15
the band weed Roots out over time over
6:17
the winter while they're not
6:19
growing but yeah let's have a look what
6:21
we've done so yeah two beds cleared
6:25
that's ticked off my list for this
6:27
weekend so tomorrow I'm going to start
6:30
clearing some of this
6:31
area down here so that's tomorrow's job
6:35
obviously as you can see lots of leaves
6:37
so they'll be ideal for composting but
6:39
yeah get that area cleared and get that
6:42
finished and let's start by clearing
6:46
some of that which will be a lot easier
6:49
than what we've just been doing case of
6:51
just snipping it off and pulling it off
6:54
obviously I can't get the roots out
6:55
because it goes into my neighbor's plot
6:58
but we can snip it all back and clear it
7:00
all and make it look fresh so we've now
7:02
cleared a lot of that bind weed down
7:04
from that side and all the rubbish what
7:06
we're growing as you can see that's the
7:08
forless Blackberry doing absolutely
7:10
amazing I've pruned about some of of the
7:12
Dead bits off it but we're going to have
7:15
to tie it up sort it out and get it all
7:18
back straight and obviously as you can
7:19
see need to clean my path of all the
7:21
rubbish I'm a very messy
7:23
Gardener hey everyone so we're back down
7:26
at the alotment today it's Sunday we're
7:28
halfway through the the weekend we got
7:30
absolutely loads done down at the
7:33
allotment yesterday we cleared two beds
7:34
which were absolutely awful and we
7:36
cleared a lot of my side border from all
7:39
the bind weed and around my phess
7:42
Blackberry so we're back here today so
7:45
today's job we're going to try and clear
7:46
another bed and hopefully clear some of
7:49
the paths we'll also have to do some
7:51
watering as in my shed stuff dries out
7:55
pretty fast and I've got loads of seeds
7:57
and plants growing in there I'll also
7:59
doing my weekly tour video so that you
8:02
can see how things are growing and how
8:03
things are not growing I always show you
8:06
the real bits but yeah we'll be doing
8:08
that today so yeah hopefully we'll have
8:10
a busy day down at the alotment so let's
8:13
get started let's get his gloves on and
8:15
let's get gardening everyone so today's
8:17
job is to clear some of this area up and
8:20
get this
8:21
tided as you can see lots of leaves
8:23
around ideal for the compost heap and
8:26
yeah just lots of rubbish as well so
8:28
hopefully we can get some of this tidy
8:30
and looking better so that is that area
8:33
cleared so that makes all my beds on my
8:38
alotment dug over and a lot of the weeds
8:43
cleared out obviously there's still a
8:44
lot around but the next job after I
8:47
finished off is to get all the paths
8:49
cleared and get out all the grass what's
8:51
growing in between and get all the beds
8:53
fastened back up but yeah next week
8:57
we'll be doing this area
9:00
which is a mess but hopefully fingers
9:04
crossed we should get a lot of it done
9:06
we'll spread it over two days and get
9:09
most of it cleared so we're just going
9:11
to spend an hour now clearing some more
9:13
of that off that side bit there and get
9:16
that tided up so that it's nice and
9:17
clear like the rest of it so that has
9:19
been our weekly blog down here at the
9:21
alment we've done absolutely loads this
9:24
week so much so many things ticked off
9:27
and so many things added to the for next
9:30
week so make sure you come back to next
9:31
week's episode where we'll be sharing
9:33
what we're getting up to next week while
9:35
we're down here at the allotment coming
9:37
up this week we'll also give you a tour
9:39
of our allotment site so that you can
9:42
see what's growing and what's not
9:43
growing and have a look around so yeah
9:46

9:48
you click the follow make sure you leave
9:50
a comment and make sure you leave a like
9:52
as well until next time remember keep
9:54
