Let's plant our fox gloves. Welcome to
0:03
Gardening with Ben. And in today's
0:04
video, we're going to be planting our
0:06
fox gloves. Now, we started these seeds
0:08
off around September, October time, why
0:12
I shared a video before, as if you sew
0:14
them then, they'll possibly flower the
0:17
next year. So, they'll probably flower
0:19
hopefully this summer and hopefully get
0:22
some great blooms on them. Now, fox
0:24
gloves are easy to grow from seed. If
0:26
you're wanting to try them, give them a
0:27
try. But if you sew them in spring this
0:29
year, then they'll probably flower next
0:31
year. So, you've got to be early with
0:34
sewing them in September, October time
0:36
if you wanted them to flower that coming
0:38
summer. So, yeah, they're pretty easy to
0:41
grow and we've sewn some and they look
0:44
absolutely amazing. So, these plants
0:46
look good enough and big enough to
0:48
handle themselves. They're pretty hardy
0:49
plants, but if there's frost or snow
0:51
coming, you're best off waiting until it
0:54
gets a bit warmer. But these are using
0:55
up space in my shed. So I need to get
0:57
them out because we're going to be
0:58
sewing all our seeds next month. So we
1:00
need to get them out of the shed and get
1:01
them into the ground. And I've got a
1:02
perfect spot for planting them. So let's
1:05
have a look at what they look like and
1:06
where we're going to be planting them.
1:08
So these are our fox gloves that we've
1:10
sewn from seed. They look absolutely
1:12
amazing. They look healthy. They look
1:14
brilliant. And yeah, I'm really proud of
1:16
them as I'm wanting to learn more and
1:19
more about growing flowers because
1:20
they're a great addition to the garden.
1:22
They attract the pollinators and yeah, a
1:25
great add of color to the garden as well
1:27
amongst all the green vegetables. So
1:30
yeah, we've got lots of plants,
1:31
absolutely loads. So we're going to get
1:33
these out and get them in the ground.
1:36
So this is our new area that we made the
1:38
end of last year and as you can see it's
1:40
looking absolutely amazing. Loads of
1:42
daffodil bulbs coming up at the moment.
1:44
So we put a load in there. We did put
1:46
tulips in all these but the bloody
1:49
squirrels got them. So, we're going to
1:51
have to fill this space in and get them
1:53
sorted. I definitely won't be planting
1:56
tulips, I don't think, next year. Wasted
1:58
a lot of money on them. But yeah, we're
2:00
going to plant the fox gloves in these,
2:02
I believe. And we'll see how they get on
2:05
and if they take, we may even plant some
2:07
at the back of them daffodil as well.
2:09
There were tulips in the back of them as
2:11
well. So, we'll see where we get them
2:13
all and hopefully get them in the
2:16
So, there we are. I've planted them
2:18
around the edges of the flower beds. So,
2:22
I'll probably put like a feature plant
2:25
in the middle of each one. That's the
2:26
idea. Possibly a little shrub or
2:30
something that's got flowers on it to
2:32
make it look nice as well. So, if
2:34
anybody's got any suggestions of a great
2:37
little shrub that can be a centerpiece,
2:40
let me know and I'll have a look around
2:43
and see what we can get for in these
2:45
centerpieces cuz I want something that's
2:48
bright and colorful and hopefully
2:53
So, thanks for watching today's video.
2:55
We'll be back with more videos. And make
2:58
sure you drop us a follow to stay up to
2:59
date with how well they grow. Until next
3:01
time everyone, remember keep smiling,
3:03
keep shining and keep gardening with bed
