hey everyone and welcome to Gardening
0:03
with Ben well in today's episode we're
0:07
going to be planting out our squashes
0:08
and our corettes and getting them
0:11
started for the year outside as it's
0:14
getting warm now so hopefully they will
0:16
survive and hopefully we won't have a
0:18
late frost so we're going to be planting
0:21
these in the ground but we're going to
0:23
show you a little method on what we do
0:26
when we're planting them so that when
0:28
we're watering them we're not watering
0:30
the actual plants so stay tuned and
0:32
let's get these corettes and squashes
0:36
planted so these are all our squashes
0:38
and corettes as you can see pretty
0:40
healthy growing pretty well so we're
0:43
going to get these out in the ground now
0:45
and hopefully get them growing so we've
0:48
got them all spaced out so there's a
0:50
nice bit of space in between them all
0:52
obviously they'll all bush out a bit
0:53
when they get growing but yeah we've got
0:55
them placed where we want them to place
0:58
so let's get them into the ground we're
1:00
going to dig a hole then we're going to
1:01
put some fish and blood and bone in the
1:04
bottom of the hole so that it feeds them
1:07
and we're going to plant the plant on
1:08
top of them so we've made this hole so
1:11
we just want to put some of this fish
1:13
blood and bone in the bottom of them get
1:15
them nice and strong when they're
1:17
growing so let's just pour a bit in
1:23
there like that that should
1:26
do and then look at that nice and
1:29
healthy so we're just going to pop it
1:31
straight in with the compost in and
1:33
plant it straight into the ground we're
1:35
not going to disturb the roots much pop
1:38
it in and then push the soil
1:43
back like
1:46
so so we've got them all planted spaced
1:50
out and ready to grow but however we're
1:53
going to do our secret little tip here
1:55
you may have seen it previously in one
1:56
of our other videos because corettes
1:59
don't like being watered on it can rot
2:01
the stem and snap it off and you can end
2:04
up losing your plant so we're going to
2:06
show you a little tip of what to do with
2:08
our plant pots so what we do we get one
2:10
of our plant pots that we've used for
2:12
growing our plants in and we create a
2:15
hole at the side of it yes at the side
2:18
of it so let's dig a hole at the side
2:20
and all we do is push our plant pot into
2:22
the side of it and as we're watering
2:24
we'll water into the plant pot so the
2:26
water goes directly to the roots of the
2:29
cora rather than risking snapping the
2:31
stem off you can obviously put food in
2:33
there as well feed them and hopefully
2:37
get some big corette plants so we've now
2:39
got all the plant pots in the ground so
2:42
we're going to put some food in them yes
2:43
we did put some food under the corette
2:45
plants but we're going to put some food
2:47
in the plant pots as well and then we
2:49
can give them a good
2:51
watering so it's a case of just watering
2:53
in the pots also the reason for putting
2:56
the feed in the plant pots is because
2:59
sometimes that can burn them as well
3:01
i've seen it in the past where it's
3:02
burnt the plants so we don't want to do
3:05
that so yep hopefully it'll soak into
3:07
the
3:08
plants so let's get them watered so
3:11
there we have it all done all watered
3:14
and ready to start growing hopefully
3:16
some for some fantastic produce this
3:19
year from our a lotment for corettes and
3:22
squashes so I hope you've enjoyed that
3:24
video obviously you can use that method
3:26
on marrow corettes pumpkins cucumbers
3:30
none of them like being watered on the
3:32
stem so that is one tip that we always
3:35
stand by when watering our plants so if
3:38
you've enjoyed this video give us a
3:40
follow for lots more tips and advice and
3:42
remember keep smiling keep shining and
3:44
keep gardening with Ben everyone
