9-Day Garden Transformation | Massive Project to Get Ready for the Next Growing Season
Oct 17, 2025
This video documents a 9-day garden transformation project preparing the space for the next growing season. I show the progress, improvements made, and the jobs involved in clearing, organising, and setting up growing areas ready for planting.
Ideal for gardeners needing motivation and practical ideas on how to reset a growing space and create a productive garden for the seasons ahead.

what next big project we are doing down
0:02
here at the a lotment. Yes, I'm going to
0:04
have a week off work from Saturday till
0:07
Sunday, the week after. And we are on
0:10
with a big mission. We've got nine days,
0:13
I think it is, nine days off. And our
0:16
plan is to give our a lotment a massive,
0:20
massive clear down, makeover, get it all
0:23
ready for next year, and then we can
0:25
concentrate on other jobs down at the
0:27
plot. So, let's show you what we're
0:29
going to be doing. So, our plan is on
0:32
the week off, it's not a huge job, but
0:34
it'll keep me busy, is to take up all
0:37
these beds, get them all dug over, get
0:40
all the old stuff out, clear all down
0:42
the sides of the plots, which is all
0:45
down this side. We're going to have
0:47
spring bulbs all the way down either
0:50
side. We're going to have daffodils all
0:52
down the side, so it'll look absolutely
0:54
gorgeous come springtime. So, that's
0:56
going to be a big old planting job.
0:59
We're going to take the beds up. We're
1:01
going to rebuild them. We're going to
1:03
give them a lick of paint. I don't think
1:05
we'll be able to do it in autumn time
1:07
though because it might just wash off.
1:09
But yeah, hopefully get all this lot
1:13
cleared and tidied, all the rubbish
1:16
taken away, and then it'll be up to the
1:20
top of my plot where we've done the new
1:21
area, which it'll all feed into pretty
1:25
well down here. So hopefully that's the
1:28
plan for our nine days off. It's not a
1:31
massive miss mission, but I think we can
1:34
get it all done. Get it all looking
1:36
tidy. Hopefully sort out the beds that
1:40
we planted, the garlic and the onion
1:42
bulbs in. We had to rush to get them in.
1:45
But yeah, them beds were definitely
1:47
done. They're being rebuilt them ones.
1:49
But we need to rebuild these beds. What
1:51
the netting's over and get all the grass
1:54
out on the paths.
1:56
But yeah, we're leaving the sunflowers
1:59
for the birds to eat all the seeds at
2:00
the moment. Letting them get all them.
2:03
That sweet corn didn't do any well that
2:04
one, but the rest of it did. We had a
2:07
fantastic crop. So, yeah, it's going to
2:09
be a big almighty job these nine days
2:13
off. But I think it'll look good once
2:15
it's all cleared. Worst bit will be
2:17
clearing down these sides of the plot.
2:20
And we'll need to get plenty of daffodil
2:23
bulbs to go all down these sides. We
2:26
used to have daffodils down this side,
2:28
but a lot of them slip down onto the
2:30
plot at the side. So, we need to sort
2:32
all that side out as well and get all
2:34
that done. We got us climbing blackberry
2:37
down the side. So, we need to tie all
2:38
that up, get the bindw weed off the
2:40
fencing, and hopefully get some daffodil
2:43
bulbs down the side, which it'll look
2:46
nice with all these spring beds, but we
2:49
filled with bulbs. Uh last weekend we
2:52
got all that done, all that tidied up
2:55
and lots in that area. So, it's going to
2:58
be a big old job down here at the a
3:01
lotment. But I'm sure you'll stick with
3:03
me, encourage me, and get it all
3:06
growing. But some woods disintegrated.
3:09
It's had it. So, we'll be burning that
3:10
and getting rid of the old wood and
3:12
getting rid of the rubbish what I've
3:13
dumped around. I'm not a tidy gardener.
3:15
I really am not. I should learn to be
3:17
more of a tidy gardener. It's less work
3:19
to do. in the long run. But yeah, it'll
3:22
all look pretty good once it's all done.
3:26
So, make sure you stick with us over the
3:28
next nine days while we get all this big
3:30
transformation done. We're not al we're
3:32
not going to just be doing that, but
3:33
also going to be transforming inside our
3:35
poly tunnel. But I'll post another video
3:37
on that because my poly tunnel's been up
3:40
20 years, possibly, 16 to 20 years, and
3:45
it's just full of absolute rubbish.
3:46
Because it's a dry area, I just shove
3:48
all my rubbish in there. And over the
3:51
years, it's become a mess. The bindw
3:53
weeds taking over in there as the
3:55
flooring's been down. As long as the
3:57
poly tunnel's been up. So, we're going
3:58
to rip all the poly tunnel flooring up
4:01
and take out all the roots what are
4:03
probably underneath it. Probably find a
4:05
few things that I don't want to see.
4:06
Possibly rats and holes and stuff like
4:08
that, which I'm not looking forward to.
4:10
But we're going to give it a massive
4:11
makeover on the inside. We're not going
4:13
to replace the skin cuz that's too big a
4:15
job for me to do these days. I don't
4:17
think I'll be able to get that done. So,
4:18
we're going to repair it and keep it
4:20
lasting a few more years. Once the
4:22
skin's eventually gone, we'll possibly
4:24
just net it over and use it as like a
4:28
cage and grow tomatoes outside and
4:30
cucumbers outside, which I know can be
4:31
done, and possibly cauliflower and
4:34
broccoli, stuff like that in there. But
4:36
until we've got the poly tunnel skin on,
4:38
we're going to keep using it to its full
4:39
advantage and growing tomatoes in there.
4:42
cucumbers and peppers and melons,
4:45
chilies. So, yeah, that's going to be a
4:47
big job in itself. So, stick with me
4:50
over the nine days while we get this
4:51
work done. Keep encouraging me, keep
4:53
posting, keep commenting, and let's get
4:56
it all ready for winter. So, until next
4:59
time everyone, remember, keep smiling,
5:01
keep shining, and keep gardening with
5:03
Benville.
