everybody and welcome to Gardening with
0:02
Ben. Well, today it's absolutely
0:05
chucking it down. We've had rain for the
0:07
last 24 to 36 hours. Non-stop rain. So,
0:12
I'm not out on the plot today cuz it's
0:14
too wet. And yeah, I don't want to get
0:16
wet myself. I don't need to grow
0:17
anymore. I'm 6'5 already. So, we're
0:20
going to be in the shed today. As you
0:22
know, I've been tiding out my poly
0:23
tunnel. I've revamped it all. I've
0:25
cleared all the rubbish out of it, but I
0:27
moved a lot of it into my shed as a lot
0:30
of it can be kept like my plant pots and
0:32
everything like that. So, we moved a lot
0:34
of it into the shed, but I just dumped
0:35
it in. I didn't put them in any specific
0:38
place. So, the job today is to start
0:40
clearing out my shed. I won't get it all
0:42
done today cuz it's a massive shed and
0:44
there's a lot of mess. Um, but today's
0:46
challenge is to start it, get going with
0:49
it because come springtime, this is
0:51
going to be the hub where I grow all my
0:53
seeds and start them all off from
0:55
scratch. As this is a nice little shed
0:57
what I've got, I've got all the shelving
0:58
up and it's perfect space to put them
1:00
because in the poly tunnel, I don't like
1:02
to put them on the ground because rats
1:04
and mice come along, eat them, and yeah,
1:07
the slugs get them. So, I like to grow
1:09
them in my shed and it gets nice and
1:11
warm in here as well cuz it's all made
1:13
of perspects and plastic. So, it gets
1:15
pretty warm. This is like my greenhouse,
1:17
what I've built myself. So, let's have a
1:19
look at the state it's in and see what
1:21
we're doing today.
1:23
So, as you can see, my shed is an
1:26
absolute state. As I said, I've took a
1:28
lot of the stuff out of the poly tunnel
1:29
and brought it in here while I was
1:31
tidying all that up. So, we've got a big
1:33
job ahead of us. We've also got these
1:35
wall flowers what I sewed uh in August.
1:39
I weren't expecting them to flower this
1:40
year, but we need to get those out as
1:42
well. So, we'll be taking those out this
1:44
weekend. And we've got some fox gloves,
1:48
I think these are. So, we need to get
1:50
those planted as well this weekend
1:52
sometime and get those out in the a
1:54
lotment. So, yeah, we have got a
1:57
massive, massive job inside this shed.
2:01
It's an absolute state. But I might try
2:04
and start getting all the shelving
2:05
cleared and tided. So, that's one job
2:07
done. And then I can get ready for
2:09
sewing my seeds on them next year. But
2:11
yeah, absolutely loads to clear up.
2:14
Hamster cage. It will come in handy.
2:16
It'll protect plants.
2:18
But yeah, we have got lots to do in here
2:21
and get it ready for next year down at
2:24
the plot.
2:26
And that is day one of the shed
2:30
transformation. Getting it all ready and
2:33
prepared ready for springtime. We've not
2:36
got a lot of building work to do in here
2:38
this winter time, but we're going to be
2:40
tidying it all up and getting it all
2:42
ready and hopefully grow some great
2:45
vegetables in here. Start them all off
2:47
next year ready for springtime. So,
2:50
yeah, let's have a look at what we've
2:51
done. I've actually done a lot more than
2:53
I thought I would do today. I didn't
2:54
think I'd do as much. I was thinking
2:56
I'll split it up into three days and it
2:59
should only take about that amount of
3:01
time. But, I've got so much done. I'm
3:04
happy. Let's have a look at what we've
3:05
done. So, I've cleared up a lot of the
3:08
entrance to the shed and it's easy to
3:10
come in the shed now. You don't have to
3:11
climb over everything. But yeah, I've
3:13
cleared all that. We've still got all
3:15
this bit to do. But like I said, I'm
3:16
going to be planting these out. We're
3:18
going to get them all planted out of my
3:19
wall flowers especially now that they're
3:21
flowering. These need to go outside. So,
3:23
yeah, they're fine. We've cleared down
3:26
all the shelving, all the stuff what
3:28
were on the shelving. We started sorting
3:30
out all those trays what we get when we
3:32
buy his plants. So, they'll definitely
3:34
come in handy for sewing the seat in
3:37
next time. Stacking the trays up. We got
3:39
to clean them all. They still don't need
3:40
cleaning, but we're stacking them up for
3:42
the time being. Sorting out a lot of my
3:44
tools and everything up there. We sorted
3:47
all them out. Piling all this rubbish up
3:50
ready for the tip. Yes, more tip runs. I
3:53
do accumulate a lot of rubbish. I don't
3:55
know if anybody else has said, but yeah,
3:57
lots of rubbish to take to the tip.
3:59
We've still got all this area to do. Uh,
4:01
but that's another day. We've got the
4:03
old roof water on the shed before what
4:06
we've got to dismantle and take away.
4:08
But yeah, tomorrow's job. I think I'll
4:10
be clearing that top bit. That's
4:13
tomorrow's job. And possibly start under
4:15
there on Monday. But like I say, I only
4:17
like to come in and do indoor jobs when
4:19
it's raining. I like to be outside when
4:21
it's dry. So, we've got to make the most
4:23
of the dry days. But yeah, it's coming
4:25
on good. We've also got his water to
4:28
fill back up ready for winter because
4:30
they turn us water off over winter. So,
4:32
we need that filled up because they
4:33
don't turn it back on till about April
4:35
time. So, we'll need that for our
4:36
seedlings. But, yeah, we got lots to do
4:39
and lots to crack on with.
4:42
But yeah, certainly when it's raining,
4:44
there's plenty of work that you can do
4:46
down at your lotment. Don't stay at
4:47
home. Don't stay indoors. Get yourself
4:50
in the garden, in the shed, in the
4:52
greenhouse and get those jobs done. It's
4:54
one less job to do come the springtime
4:56
when you're rushing around to do all
4:57
your seedlings and getting all them
4:59
ready. get as much done as possible and
5:01
then you can sit back and relax during
5:03
the winter period as if there's always
5:05
lots to do down here. But yep, make sure
5:08
you give us a follow to stay up to date
5:09
with all our progress and remember to
5:12
leave a comment, a like, a share. Until
5:14
next time everyone, remember keep
5:16
smiling, keep shining, and keep
5:17
gardening with Ben everyone.
