This video shares the latest update from inside the polytunnel, covering seed sowing, plant growth, and the progress being made. I talk through what has been planted, how seedlings are developing, and the key jobs being done to keep everything growing well.
I also share observations, care tips, and the next steps to continue building a productive growing space. A helpful update for gardeners interested in growing under cover and following the progress of plants.

Welcome to our poly tunnel update
0:02
everybody and make sure you sit back,
0:04
relax, and enjoy because it's going to
0:06
be a long episode cuz things are
0:08
starting to move now in the poly tunnel.
0:10
We are excited. We're getting things
0:12
growing and it's all coming along. So,
0:14
we want to give you the weekly updates
0:16
to show you what is happening in this
0:18
poly tunnel. I'm amazed with what is was
0:21
like and what it's going to be like in
0:23
the future and hopefully lots and lots
0:26
of produce in here. So, let's have a
0:28
look at what's growing and what's not
0:29
growing.
0:31
So, these are the Oakland Gardens
0:33
hanging baskets and they're growing
0:35
absolutely fantastic. The strawberries
0:38
are growing well and they're taking and
0:40
hopefully we'll get lots and lots of
0:42
strawberries on them. But, we'll give
0:43
you an update on them individually. So,
0:45
stay tuned for that episode of how well
0:48
they're getting on. So, let's have a
0:50
look in our mini greenhouse. Look at
0:52
them. The sweet peas are doing
0:54
fantastic. These are in the Oakland
0:56
Gardens root trainers growing well.
0:58
We've also planted another batch there.
1:01
So hopefully we'll get some more grower.
1:03
We've got us potatoes chitting as well.
1:06
We'll be planting those on Good Friday
1:08
outside. They're all doing well. And
1:11
yeah, look at this everybody. This is
1:14
how it's all looking down now. My poly
1:16
tunnel. Absolutely amazing. We've got
1:18
all this compost in the beds and they're
1:21
all doing well. Down this side, we'll be
1:24
having all our tomato cucumber plants.
1:26
Actually, cucumber plants down on this
1:28
side. And we'll also be growing lettuce
1:31
in front of them. Fingers crossed we'll
1:33
get some lettuce growing in them. Not
1:35
planted that yet. That's on our job to
1:37
do next week. Now, I filled all these
1:39
middle beds with seeds. So, let's tell
1:41
you what's in each one.
1:46
So, in this one, we've got lettuce mixed
1:50
leaf. So, we're going to have cut and
1:51
come again lettuce in this one. The
1:54
other beds are going to have um iceberg
1:56
lettucees in cuz I love iceberg
1:58
lettucees. So, this is cut and come
1:59
again lettuce in this one.
2:04
In this one,
2:07
we have got
2:10
beetroot.
2:11
So, fingers crossed we get some decent
2:13
beetroot growing in it. I love my
2:15
beetroot.
2:18
In this one, we've got red and white
2:21
spring onions. I've never grown red ones
2:23
before, so that's a new thing for me
2:24
this year to try. See whether they grow
2:27
all right and they taste okay. I've
2:28
never tasted a red spring onion either,
2:30
so exciting for that.
2:34
In this one, we have got carrots. Now,
2:38
as everybody knows, I've never had good
2:40
success with carrots in the 20 years
2:42
that I've had my plot. This is my year
2:44
for growing good carrots. So, we've got
2:46
carrots in this one. So, we'll see if we
2:49
get some decent carrots. This is the
2:50
only bed I've filled up to the top
2:52
compost because obviously the carrots
2:54
might get pretty long. So, we'll see how
2:56
they get on.
2:59
In this one, we have got spinach. We're
3:03
going to grow some spinach in this one.
3:05
I'll have my tomatoes at the back of the
3:07
plants here. The tomato plants are all
3:10
going to grow down this back bit uh
3:12
where I usually grow them. They always
3:13
grow well in this area.
3:17
In this bed we have got radishes. So
3:21
hopefully we'll get some decent
3:22
radishes. Fastest growing vegetable
3:24
around. So if you're wanting to grow a
3:26
fast ve radishes to go.
3:30
Then we've got some
3:36
more radishes in this one. So we've got
3:39
two beds of radishes.
3:41
I didn't realize I'd done two beds. But
3:43
yeah, we've got two beds of radishes.
3:45
So, we'll get lots of radishes. They'll
3:47
all be ready to harvest before we plant
3:48
the tomatoes as, like I said, the
3:50
fastest growing.
3:54
And then in this one, we've got some
3:56
pack choy. I've never grown pack choy
3:58
before, so that's new to me. You can
4:00
have them as a big plant or cut them
4:03
when they got small leaves on them. So,
4:05
yeah, that's going to be good. So, we're
4:07
trying pack joy. We've still got that
4:09
bed to fill. So, that's another thing to
4:11
do. We've also got some more potatoes
4:13
chitting over here. Absolutely loads of
4:16
potatoes this year. We're going to be
4:18
growing them in the Oakland Garden
4:20
buckets, as I always grow them in
4:22
buckets cuz then you don't stab them
4:23
when you dig them up. So, yeah, it's all
4:26
coming together
4:29
really well. We've sewn some sweet some
4:32
peas, normal peas, early peas in here as
4:36
I grow them in containers first so that
4:38
the mice don't get them and the rats
4:40
until they're a decent size. We've got
4:43
an onions growing in here in salt trays.
4:47
We'll be planting those out towards the
4:49
end of March when they've got some good
4:51
roots on them and looking healthy.
4:55
So yeah, like I said, the poly tunnel
4:57
episodes are going to get longer as
4:58
things are progressing in here. We're
5:00
doing absolutely loads down here. I'm
5:02
excited to see how things grow this
5:04
year. We've invested a lot into this
5:05
poly tunnel this year, so it's going to
5:07
be a main project of mine to get some
5:09
good crops growing. So, I hope you've
5:12
enjoyed this episode. Drop us a follow
5:13
to stay up to date with all our videos.
5:15
Until next time, everyone. Remember,
5:17
keep smiling, keep shining, and keep
5:19
gardening with Ben, everyone.
