Let's talk about the Garden Press event.
0:03
Welcome to Gardening with Ben,
0:04
everybody. And let's talk about the
0:06
exciting day that we had yesterday down
0:09
in London. Now, I was kindly invited to
0:13
the Garden Press event. It's an event
0:15
where all the major gardening companies
0:19
come together and showcase all the
0:22
products and all their new products that
0:24
they are launching to the world. Because
0:27
with gardening, there's always new
0:29
things coming out, always new items,
0:31
always new seeds, always new varieties.
0:34
And it's a place for them all to come
0:36
together and show you the best of what
0:39
they've got. And wow, did they exceed
0:42
themselves. And I was absolutely nervous
0:45
about going because I've never been to
0:47
one of these events before. I've been to
0:49
the BBC Gardener World where I've been
0:51
around all the stalls and everything and
0:53
seeing what people are showcasing, but
0:56
I've never been to a place where it's
0:58
just all the companies together
0:59
showcasing what they do and just little
1:02
old me never think that I'm big on
1:04
social media or anything like that. But
1:06
we are growing. We've got 30,000
1:08
followers Nea on Facebook. Wow. Amazing.
1:11
But overall about 50,000 across all
1:13
platforms and it's absolutely amazing.
1:16
So I got invited to come down and have a
1:18
look and see what everybody does. Now
1:22
there were so many companies there.
1:24
Absolutely loads. And you don't realize
1:27
how many companies are intrigued uh
1:30
inter uh in interwined with each other
1:34
should I say and how they all relate to
1:37
one another. And it's amazing to see
1:39
which companies are part of one another
1:41
and seeing what they do. And there were
1:44
so many seed companies there. Absolutely
1:46
loads. They were like father girls,
1:48
there were Kings, there were Suttons.
1:51
There were absolutely loads there. And
1:54
the seeds just blew me away. If you're
1:57
addicted to seeds, that is the place to
1:59
go. And I could have just walked away
2:01
with so many packets of seeds from that
2:03
event. Absolutely amazing. And I've got
2:05
a load of seeds. So, I'm going to be
2:07
showing you them over the next few weeks
2:10
of what we've got and what we're going
2:11
to be trying this year down at the a
2:12
lotment. And yeah, absolutely amazing.
2:15
Unwinds have got a house plant seed
2:17
collection which I'll be showing you as
2:19
well. And wow, absolutely amazing. And
2:23
it is just like walking into a Christmas
2:26
shop for me. Uh seeing all the seeds
2:28
there. And it's good because like I
2:32
going up to the stalls and I like saying
2:34
I'm gardening with Ben. I'm an aotment
2:36
blogger. I share tips and advice on
2:39
growing your own produce and growing how
2:42
easy it is and what you have to do and
2:45
the results of it. And yeah, it were
2:47
absolutely amazing. And then obviously
2:49
there were plenty of compost stalls
2:51
showcasing all the different types of
2:53
varieties of compost and all the big
2:55
brands with all their garden tools and
2:59
lawn care. Obviously lawn care is not
3:01
something that I need because I've not
3:03
got a lawn. Uh but they were like all
3:05
the robotic lawnmowers. It absolutely
3:08
brilliant seeing all them and the amount
3:12
of products that there are out there.
3:14
And it's great to put a name to some of
3:16
the faces as well because like you see
3:18
all the brand names but you don't see
3:19
the people behind them that produce them
3:22
and sell them. And it was great and
3:24
magical to see them all. And hopefully
3:27
we made some great contacts at the press
3:30
event and hopefully we'll be able to use
3:32
some of their products down here at the
3:34
a lotment and showcase what they do and
3:36
how they use them. And I just can't
3:39
believe it. And I got to meet some great
3:40
people as well because myself I follow
3:44
people as well. I follow influencers
3:46
garden social media people and I get
3:49
tips and advice from other people. I
3:51
don't know everything myself. So I look
3:52
to other people for tips and advice. So,
3:54
it were great to meet them as well and
3:56
they were so nice and down to earth and
3:58
it's good to talk to like-minded people
4:01
of what they do and get ideas and tips
4:04
and advice from them on what to do and
4:06
how to put it across on social media to
4:08
other people. So, yeah, it was an
4:11
absolute blast of a day. the best day
4:14
ever and I will certainly make sure that
4:16
I am going to that event every single
4:18
year because it was the best day ever
4:21
and it was definitely worth the trip
4:23
down to London and spending time down
4:26
there. So, I hope that over the next few
4:28
weeks you'll be able to see everything
4:30
that I got. Uh I certainly came away
4:32
with bagfuls of stuff. So, get ready to
4:35
be bombarded with lots of items and
4:37
sharing what we're going to be trying
4:39
this year. So, I hope you've enjoyed
4:41
this video. Make sure you do drop us a
4:43
follow to stay up to date with all the
4:45
items that we're going to be sharing
4:46
over the next few weeks and months and
4:48
hopefully the produce at the end of the
4:50
year. Until next time everyone, remember
4:52
keep smiling, keep shining and keep
4:54
gardening with Ben everyone.
