This video reviews garden progress and explains important seasonal preparation tasks. I cover seed sowing, soil preparation, and routine maintenance that supports healthy plant growth. It is helpful for gardeners wanting practical guidance and a clear overview of productive garden work.

February roundup. Welcome to Gardening
0:03
with Ben, everybody. And yes, we are at
0:06
the end of February. It's nearly March,
0:09
nearly spring, and it's nearly time to
0:11
get sewing all those seeds. It's going
0:13
to be an exciting month, March. A busy
0:16
month, but hopefully we'll get all the
0:17
seeds sewn in March. And hopefully some
0:20
decent weather to help them germinate as
0:22
well. That's what we want. We don't want
0:24
the weather to start turning colder.
0:26
Want it to start turning warmer. So
0:28
fingers crossed we do get a good March
0:31
and get some good weather. Usually we
0:33
get a little heat wave in March. So
0:35
fingers crossed for that heat wave cuz
0:36
that'll get things started and
0:38
germinating. So what have we done in
0:40
February down here at the a lotment?
0:42
Well, we have been so busy. It's not is
0:45
not it's not been any stopping for me
0:47
down at the plot. I'm not one to
0:49
hibernate anymore through the winter. we
0:51
keep on growing and keep on coming down
0:53
here and doing more and more jobs and
0:55
trying to improve it for the growing
0:57
year ahead. We've obviously planted all
0:59
our hanging baskets with strawberries.
1:02
They're all taken. They're all growing.
1:04
They're all showing signs of new life
1:05
and looking absolutely fantastic. So
1:08
fingers crossed we get a great
1:09
strawberry cop this year. I do love
1:11
strawberries and I don't tend to share
1:12
them with anyone. But we might have so
1:14
many we might have to end up sharing
1:16
them. We've obviously built all those
1:18
raised beds. All those raised beds are
1:20
built in our poly tunnel. The next job
1:22
will be to fill them with compost and
1:24
get all that done as we'll start sewing
1:26
in March and we're going to direct sew
1:29
like as beetroot maybe as lettuce,
1:32
spring onions,
1:34
carrots. So yeah, we'll probably direct
1:36
sew them and we're going to be looking
1:38
around at other stuff to grow in the
1:39
poly tunnel. I might try and grow
1:41
broccoli and cauliflowers. We'll see.
1:43
But they'll obviously take up more room
1:45
in the raised bed. So I don't know.
1:46
We'll we'll have a think about that. So
1:49
yeah, we've got all that to do. We've
1:50
been tidying out the shed, getting all
1:52
that ready because obviously in March
1:54
time I'm going to be sewing all my seeds
1:55
and I need all my shelving that I can
1:58
get. And when you see, if you're a new
2:00
follower to me, you will see how many
2:02
seeds I'll be sewing. It'll be hard to
2:04
keep up with it all. But we're going to
2:06
be busy busy busy sewing lots and lots
2:08
of seeds. And again, this year I want to
2:10
grow more and more flowers down at the
2:12
plot. And without the flowers, you won't
2:15
get your bees. So, more flowers attract
2:17
the bees and hopefully better
2:20
pollination for more fruit. Last year's
2:23
fruit were absolutely amazing. We got so
2:25
much fruit last year. It was
2:26
unbelievable. So, yeah, it has been a
2:29
busy busy February down here and
2:32
obviously it's been non-stop rain and
2:35
we've not really done anything outside
2:37
as I got most of it done towards the end
2:40
of last year. We got a lot of it cleared
2:41
and all ready and prepared ready for
2:45
this year. And we won't be planting
2:47
anything outside until May time till the
2:50
frost has gone. The only thing that
2:51
we'll be planting outside are possibly
2:53
the potatoes. We're going to be growing
2:55
a load in buckets, but we're going to
2:56
probably have some leftovers, so we'll
2:57
plant them outside. We've also got as
3:00
onions what we've started off in the
3:03
greenhouse in the poly tunnel. We've put
3:06
those into seed trays and then we'll be
3:09
planting those outside end March time
3:11
once they've started sprouting and
3:13
started growing. So yeah, February has
3:15
been extremely busy down here at the
3:17
plot. And I'm sure March will be even
3:19
busier down here. And the best thing is
3:22
it's starting to get lighter late now.
3:24
So we can go down to the a lotment after
3:26
work and spend an hour down at the plot.
3:28
So I'm looking forward to that. I may
3:30
start coming down more at nighttime as
3:32
well to get things done down here. So
3:34
make sure you drop us a follow to stay
3:36
up to date with everything that we're
3:37
going to be getting up to in March down
3:39
at the plot. Until next time everyone,
3:41
remember keep smiling, keep shining and
3:44
keep guarding with Ben everyone.
