Autumn Gardening Unboxing | Discover Our Simply Seed Bulb & Veg Hamper for Fall Planting!
Oct 11, 2025
This video shares an autumn gardening unboxing where I open a Simply Seed bulb and vegetable hamper and show exactly what is included. I go through the different seeds and bulbs, talk about what I’ll be planting, and explain how they fit into seasonal planting plans.
A great watch for gardeners looking for inspiration, new varieties to try, and ideas on what to grow during the autumn planting season.

We have had a huge delivery from Simply
0:03
Seed. Welcome to Gardening with Ben. And
0:07
today I'm going to show you massive
0:08
delivery what we've had from Simply Seed
0:11
to suit all our autumn needs down here
0:14
at the a lotment. So I'm going to be
0:15
busy this weekend and the weekends to
0:18
come to get all these in as fast as
0:20
possible and get them growing down here
0:23
at the a lotment. I don't tend to grow
0:24
much stuff through the winter, but this
0:26
is encouraging me to get growing and get
0:29
planting. So, yeah, let's see what we've
0:32
got in this huge box from Simply Seed.
0:36
So, first up, we have got some autumn
0:40
champion onions. Nice big bag full
0:43
there. So, we'll get plenty of onions to
0:45
harvest in June, July time. We have got
0:49
some shellots yellow moon. Nice big bag
0:54
full.
0:55
So, yeah, they're going to go in and get
0:57
planted.
0:59
So much to plant this weekend. Now, we
1:01
have got some red winter onions.
1:06
We'll see how they go. So, lots of
1:08
onions to keep us going. We have got
1:11
some
1:14
province garlic, a nice big garlic bulb
1:17
there. We'll get lots of cloves off that
1:19
and get those planted. We have got some
1:25
garland, purple garlic. Two cloves of
1:28
that. So, we'll get them in as well. We
1:32
have got some elephant garlic as well.
1:35
Look at the size of those. Absolutely
1:36
huge. And did you know that elephant
1:38
garlic isn't actually garlic? It's part
1:41
of the leak family. Absolutely gorgeous.
1:44
Roasted. So, if you want to grow some
1:46
nice garlic, elephant garlic is the one
1:49
to grow.
1:51
Then my favorite thing which I
1:54
absolutely love on the plot and that is
1:57
spring bulbs. I absolutely love spring
1:59
bulbs because it attracts the bees in
2:01
the springtime when they wake up from
2:02
hibernation. Gives them the energy that
2:04
they need to get started for the year
2:06
ahead. We have got some tulips avante
2:09
grande 25 of those. So we're going to
2:12
plant all these uh spring bulbs in our
2:15
new area that I've been doing over the
2:17
last few weeks which you'll have seen
2:19
obviously. you plant towards the end of
2:21
October because you don't want to get
2:23
tulip fire. So that is the time to plant
2:26
them. End of October, beginning of
2:28
November. We got some tulip pretty
2:31
princess. 15 bulbs of those. Absolutely
2:34
loads of tulips. It's going to look
2:36
absolutely gorgeous down here on the
2:37
other. And then a huge bag of white
2:42
daffodils. No, these are mixed ones.
2:44
Mixed daffodils. Mixed daffodils we've
2:46
got here. So lots of daffodils to plant.
2:49
I love daffodil. Absolutely gorgeous,
2:51
underestimated, and absolutely a great
2:54
addition to the garden. Then we have got
2:57
some feed to feed our onions with. Now,
3:01
onions do need feed to help them get
3:03
bigger and swell and get a decent size
3:06
onion. So, we can feed our onions and
3:08
our garlic with this. So, we're going to
3:10
be feeding them throughout the winter
3:11
period and hopefully get some decent
3:14
sized crops.
3:16
Then, it doesn't end there.
3:19
When you think It's all over. It's
3:20
certainly not. We have got some seeds as
3:23
well to plant cuz there's quite a few
3:24
seeds that we can plant as well this
3:26
month. Uh we've got some rocket that
3:28
there for growing next year. We've got
3:31
some cauliflower clipper which you can
3:34
sew in October. So we can sew those now
3:37
and then it says plant out in March to
3:39
April. So I'm guessing we sew them now
3:42
and grow them in the poly and then plant
3:44
them out in March to April time. We'll
3:46
have to look more into that. Then one of
3:49
my favorite flowers of all time, the
3:52
sweet pea.
3:54
Now, you can start them off next year,
3:55
but you can actually start sweet peas
3:57
off in autumn and then plant them out
4:01
next year. They will produce earlier
4:04
flowers and you'll get more flowers
4:05
growing throughout the year. And yeah,
4:08
they'll get to a decent size and growth
4:12
before planting out. and they will grow
4:14
a lot better and a lot stronger if you
4:17
burn them through the winter and plant
4:19
them out next year. We've got some
4:21
mustard. We can plant them next year.
4:25
We've got some spring onion and you can
4:27
actually sew them now and they'll be
4:29
ready for springtime. So, I might grow
4:32
them in the poly tunnel and have them
4:34
growing in there.
4:36
We've got some salad leaves which we can
4:39
grow all year round. Another good one to
4:42
grow in the poly tunnel through the
4:43
winter period. Then we've got some
4:46
cabbage region site there to sew next
4:49
year. So we'll sew them next year.
4:53
Then we've got some broad beans. I
4:55
planted some of them last week, but we
4:57
can start another bed off and get those
4:58
growing. Growing broad beans in the
5:01
autumn period is better because they're
5:03
ready to harvest before the blackfly
5:05
appear. Obviously blackfly absolutely
5:08
love broad beans. If you start them off
5:09
in March time, they use ver June July
5:11
time will be covered in blackfly.
5:13
Whereas if you sew these now, they'll be
5:15
ready before the blackfly appear. And
5:18
then I did mention in my seed video for
5:22
October that I've never grown peas
5:24
throughout the winter period. And you
5:26
can actually sew these ones in November.
5:29
They're called pee. So yeah, we might
5:32
grow some peas throughout the winter
5:33
period as well. So an absolutely massive
5:37
haul from Simply Seed. Thank you so much
5:39
for sending this package out and it's
5:41
going to keep me busy this winter and
5:44
keep me growing and keep me going
5:46
definitely for the next few weekends
5:48
down here at the plot. So, we best stop
5:50
this video. We best get gardening. Well,
5:52
we've got to clear those beds first and
5:54
get them all planted. So, make sure you
5:56
stay tuned for the videos of us growing
5:58
them throughout the winter period. Drop
6:00
us a follow to stay up to date with all
6:02
our videos. Until next time everyone,
6:04
remember, keep smiling, keep shining,
6:06
and keep gardening with Ben.
