Hey up everyone. It's gardening with Ben
0:03
down here at the a lotment on Sunday.
0:05
It's a bit wet, but hopefully we'll get
0:07
plenty done today down here at the plot.
0:10
We're in the new area. Still doing a bit
0:12
down here. We've not got much to do
0:14
today down here in the new area as I
0:17
need to get a load of stuff for next
0:19
week. But let's show you what it's
0:21
looking like and what we're going to be
0:22
doing today. So, as you can see, we've
0:25
got all the wood chipped down now. We've
0:27
got the burning bin in place. We're
0:28
allowed to burn from next week down here
0:31
at the a lotment when it gets to October
0:33
so we can start burning some of our
0:35
rubbish what we've been drying out all
0:37
as old wood etc. I'm going to get a
0:39
bench to go here to sit on so that we
0:42
can sit and stay warm in the winter
0:44
which will be nice. We've got all the
0:46
wood chip down in the paths. It looks
0:48
absolutely much better now. Easy to walk
0:51
on and it's all levelish.
0:54
We've got winter pansies in in these new
0:57
beds. We've painted them all up to make
0:59
them look nice and green. They might
1:01
need another coat on, but it's too wet
1:03
at the moment. We've also planted two
1:06
climbers outside of each frame leg so
1:09
that hopefully we'll get some color down
1:12
here next year on the plot, but
1:14
obviously we've got to trail them up the
1:16
arches and get them growing. So fingers
1:19
crossed next year these will be nice and
1:21
in bloom and we'll have lots of flowers
1:24
climbing up these arches. The birds are
1:26
absolutely loving the bird feeders down
1:29
here. We've had so many blue tits so
1:32
recently. I can't believe how many blue
1:34
tits we're having. Hopefully get some
1:36
more bird boxes up and hopefully get
1:37
some blue tits nesting down here next
1:40
year. I might put one on the tree as
1:43
well so that we've got a bird box up
1:45
there. Next week we're going to be
1:47
filling these with compost and we're
1:50
going to be having lots of snow drops
1:52
and blue bells in this area as they do
1:55
like shaded areas. And this is pretty
1:58
shaded. So we're going to have loads of
2:01
spring bulbs in them. And hopefully
2:04
we're going to have a load of alpines as
2:06
well growing in there cuz alpine plants
2:09
look nice and they spread and fill out
2:11
the spaces in these. Hopefully, we'll
2:14
have like tulips in these ones. And then
2:17
in these ones, we're going to have some
2:18
mini daffodil as well. So, I've got lots
2:21
of spring bulbs to get and hopefully get
2:24
planting them all next month in October.
2:28
So, today we're going to be finishing
2:30
off this bit. We've just got this little
2:32
job to do today. I'm not going to sort
2:33
the fencing out. That's another job for
2:36
another time. But, I'm going to sort
2:38
this border out. We're going to take up
2:39
this wood piece and we're going to put
2:41
bricks down the edge to make it match up
2:44
with all this area and to make it look
2:47
nice. So, we just need to find enough
2:49
bricks, which I'm sure I will do to fill
2:51
all this gap up and to make it look
2:53
better. And then we'll dig it over and
2:55
we'll put some fresh compost in and
2:57
think about what we're going to be
2:58
planting in there.
3:01
So, there we are. We've put his path in
3:04
while he's edging using as bricks. Makes
3:07
it look better. makes it more uniform
3:10
rather than the wood. Like I said, we're
3:13
going to sort that fence out eventually.
3:15
But yeah, there's no rush for that bit.
3:17
But yeah, we're going to fill it with
3:18
compost and get some plants and bulbs in
3:21
there. Got to think about what we're
3:23
going to be planting, but I'm sure I'll
3:26
find something to plant in this area.
3:28
So, yeah, next week's job's going to be
3:30
a big one.
3:32
We're going to be filling them up.
3:34
Getting plants in these.
3:37
Filling all the back bit up. Getting all
3:39
the bulbs planted in the back bit. I'm
3:42
not going to plant my alpines yet. We
3:43
need to order them. Hopefully, we can
3:46
get some.
3:48
But yeah,
3:49
next week it's going to be a busy job.
3:52
But hopefully once all that's done next
3:55
week, then we can start concentrating on
3:59
the main plot. That's going to be his
4:01
next mission to tidy up all the pot,
4:06
take up all the beds, redo them, rebuild
4:09
them, clear all the beds, get all the
4:13
weeds out. We're leaving the sunflowers
4:14
in for the seeds for the birds for the
4:16
time being. But yeah, it's going to be a
4:19
tough job. But next week's job as well
4:23
is we're going to be planting the
4:26
onions, the garlic, and the broad beans
4:29
in these beds. So, we best get them beds
4:32
ready and get them ready for planting
4:35
next week.
4:37
So, I hope you've enjoyed following
4:39
along on our progress videos and how
4:41
well we're getting on with it all. We
4:43
certainly have been getting a lot done
4:45
down here, but make sure you give us a
4:47
follow to stay up to date with all our
4:49
videos and how well we're getting on
4:50
down here at the plot. Until next time
4:52
everyone, remember, keep smiling, keep
4:54
shining, and keep gardening.
