You can now plant deciduous hedges on well drained soil. You can only plant them if it is not too wet or the ground is frozen. If the weather is not suitable for plant these put them in a frost free shed or place. Keep the roots warm by putting straw around them and under them.

Pruning hedges:- Now is the time you can start to prune hedges back. Wait until the weather is decent and no frost is due. If you prune them back when it’s frosty it can kill the buds off on the hedge. The ideal time will be towards the end of February and the beginning of March. Cut the hedge one foot below the required height. This will allow new growth to replace the old skeleton framework of the hedge.
