Flowers can you plant in November?
0:03
Welcome to Gardening with Ben. And in
0:04
today's video, I'm going to be sharing
0:06
with you what flowers you can plant in
0:08
November. If you've not checked out as a
0:10
vegetable video, go and check that one
0:12
out as well to see what vegetables you
0:14
can grow in November as well. So,
0:17
obviously it's getting cold. Not much
0:19
will be growing at this time of year,
0:21
but you can get ready for growing in
0:23
springtime and getting those a lotments
0:25
and gardens full of spring color ready
0:27
for a beautiful display. Now, I've been
0:31
planting all my spring bulbs, now is the
0:34
perfect time to be planting them. If
0:35
you've been holding off on planting your
0:37
tulips because of tulip fire, you can
0:40
start to plant them now and they'll have
0:42
a good chance of getting some great
0:44
displays. So you can be planting your
0:46
tulips, your muscara, your daffodils,
0:49
your hyasims, your snow drops,
0:53
um your tulips, your crocuses, all them
0:57
spring bulbs you can be planting this
0:59
month. Obviously, make sure you plant
1:02
them nice and deep. Uh they usually say
1:05
twice the size of the bulb is how deep
1:07
you need to plant them. And again, if
1:09
you've got squirrels or rodents around
1:12
which like to dig up stuff, put some
1:14
netting over them and protect them. And
1:15
then once they started popping through,
1:17
then you could take the netting off and
1:19
let them grow. Because if you're like
1:21
me, the squirrels do love to pinch the
1:23
bulbs. And you don't want to waste all
1:24
your money on getting beautiful displays
1:26
for them to all be pinched and taken
1:29
away and dug somewhere else. So those
1:33
are the main bulbs that you can plant
1:35
this month. Next up is pansies and
1:38
violas. If you're wanting color
1:40
throughout the winter period, it's a
1:41
great time to plant these. And these are
1:44
great in hanging baskets in borders.
1:46
They'll look absolutely gorgeous and
1:48
they'll add that little bit of color to
1:50
a dull garden which probably hasn't got
1:52
much life at this time of year. So, if
1:55
you wanted to add some color to your
1:56
garden, add some spring winter pansies
2:00
or some violas and they will bloom all
2:02
the way through to the springtime. Next
2:05
up is winter heather. Now I've got some
2:07
beautiful heather on my a lotment. I've
2:09
got some purple heather and I've just
2:11
purchased some nice white heather as
2:13
well and it looks absolutely gorgeous.
2:16
And again, it will bloom throughout the
2:18
winter period and add that bit of color
2:19
to your borders, to your hanging
2:21
baskets, to your pots, and you'll get
2:23
some great color from that. And it'll
2:25
certainly brighten up the garden. And
2:27
they'll grow every year. They'll bloom
2:29
every year. As long as you look after
2:31
them and keep them looked after, they
2:33
will flower year after year and they'll
2:35
spread as well, which is another good
2:38
thing as well. So, those are the flowers
2:40
that you can plant this month. Make sure
2:42
you share this to all your gardening
2:44
friends and your a lotment friends. Add
2:46
that spring color to your a lotment.
2:48
When the bees wake up from hibernation,
2:50
they need that pollen, that nectar. So,
2:53
adding the spring bulbs helps them. It
2:55
gives them their energy to start off the
2:57
year and keeps them down at your plot
3:00
and encourages them to help pollinate
3:02
all the flowers and all your fruit trees
3:05
to help give you a better crop as well.
3:08
So until next time everyone remember
3:10
keep smiling, keep shining and keep in
3:13
bed everyone.
