Save your tomato seeds. Yes, welcome to
0:04
Gardening with Ben. And yesterday I
0:07
watched an amazing video of somebody
0:09
saving their tomato seeds and using them
0:12
the year after to plant their tomato
0:15
plants. And they did a lot better saving
0:19
the seeds and using the seeds from the
0:21
tomatoes that you have grown. The reason
0:23
for this is because the seeds are
0:25
acclimatized to the temperature and the
0:28
growing conditions of where you are
0:30
growing them. So, as you can see, this
0:33
is an absolute huge beast of a beef
0:36
steak tomato. First time that I've ever
0:39
grown them. And wow, this is the biggest
0:41
one that I've got. I can't wait to weigh
0:43
this later. So, we're going to save some
0:45
seeds from it because beef steak tomato
0:47
seeds, you don't get many in a pack
0:49
either. So, we're going to save all
0:51
these and use them for next year. And
0:54
hopefully we'll get some whopping sized
0:57
ones next year off this mother tomato.
1:01
And yeah, make sure you stay tuned to
1:04
see if we do next year. That is the
1:06
thing. Well, we'll be filming it all as
1:07
per usual. But yeah, we're going to
1:09
scrape some of these seeds out. But
1:10
we're going to dry them out on some
1:11
kitchen roll and put them somewhere safe
1:14
ready to sew next March next year or
1:18
possibly a bit earlier if I'm growing
1:20
them indoors. But we'll see when we
1:21
start sewing them. But yeah, I'm looking
1:23
forward to trying my own tomato seeds
1:25
next year down at the a lotment. So let
1:28
me know below if you save your tomato
1:31
seeds and if they do a lot better from
1:33
saving the seeds from your tomato plants
1:35
in the comments below. So until next
1:37
time everyone remember keep smiling,
1:40
keep shining and keep gardening with Ben
