hey everyone and welcome to Gardening
0:03
with Ben in today's video we're going to
0:06
be potting up our tomato plants as they
0:08
are ready for bigger pots we purchased
0:11
the tomato plants because my seeds
0:13
didn't too do too brilliant and we're
0:16
going to grow these in the poly tunnel
0:17
this year we've grown them outside in
0:19
the past but I want to try them again in
0:21
the poly tunnel this year and hopefully
0:23
get a bigger crop from them we've got
0:26
some sweet million ones which are the
0:28
nice small tiny ones and we've also got
0:31
some super steak ones so they're the
0:33
beef ones so hopefully we can use them
0:35
in cooking and in sandwiches as well so
0:39
we're going to get them potted up we've
0:40
been got some compost from and we're
0:42
going to plant these in flower buckets
0:46
these are the ones that you can like get
0:47
from Morrison's they used to sell them
0:50
uh but I think they send them back to
0:51
the shops now i managed to get some M
0:53
the other week as well uh sometimes it's
0:55
cheeky just to ask and sometimes they'll
0:57
give you some so it's worthwhile if
0:59
you're needing some just make sure you
1:01
drill some holes in the bottom so that
1:03
they can drain because you don't want
1:05
them getting too water logged so let's
1:08
get our compost let's get our tomato
1:10
plants and let's get these sewn
1:15
up so these are the super steak ones
1:18
which I've got hopefully these will be
1:21
nice big tomatoes on these ones
1:24
obviously we're going to plant these
1:25
individually in separate pots and
1:28
hopefully keep them watered throughout
1:30
the summer period and get nice big
1:33
tomatoes on them they'll be fruiting all
1:35
the way up to October but steak ones
1:38
take longer to ripen on them so they
1:40
need a lot of warmth to get them to
1:41
ripen that's why I'm going to grow them
1:43
in the poly tunnel this year
1:46
so I've got all the pots filled up with
1:48
compost all 10 of them they don't have
1:51
to be up to the top but you can always
1:53
top them up later on once they're
1:55
growing the compost will sink as you
1:58
know when you water it it'll all sink
2:00
down so just top them back up later on
2:03
in the season with fresh stuff so that
2:05
it's feeding them continuously
2:07
throughout the summer period so now we
2:09
need to get ready for putting his
2:11
tomatoes in so first before we put his
2:13
tomatoes in what we're going to do is
2:15
make a hole where we're going to put
2:16
this tomato like so with your
2:23
hand and then we're going to add a bit
2:26
of feed in there as well just to give
2:28
them that extra kick to get started so
2:30
I'm going to be using the fish blood and
2:32
bone just to add a bit of food into that
2:34
as compost doesn't have much food in it
2:37
these days so we'll add some of that in
2:39
to give them that kick start to get
2:40
going so I've just popped So I've just
2:43
popped some in the soil where we're
2:45
going to pop in
2:49
the
2:51
tomato so I've just popped some in the
2:53
hole where we're going to put the tomato
2:55
plant and then we'll just easily sit it
2:57
in so that's nicely easily in like I
2:59
said they're a bit floppy at the moment
3:01
but they'll soon start to come back up
3:02
so yeah just cover that plant up with
3:05
some compost like that
3:07
and then what we're going to do is we're
3:09
going to put some more food just around
3:11
the top as well so that it feeds them so
3:14
there we have it we put some feed on it
3:16
if you get any on the plant just shake
3:18
it off because you don't want it to be
3:20
on the plant because it can burn the
3:22
plant and damage it so just shake it off
3:25
so yeah last job will be to water them
3:28
so we've got his label there so we know
3:30
which variety it is that we're growing
3:31
as well and there we have it we've
3:34
potted them all up all 10 of them all
3:37
labeled up so that we know what they are
3:38
as well so yeah we just got to tidy this
3:41
poly tunnel up now to find somewhere to
3:43
put them because we've got that much
3:44
stuff in here at the moment absolutely
3:47
loads but yeah let's get a tidy area so
3:51
there we have it we've got all the
3:52
tomatoes putotted up and labeled and in
3:56
a nice line so when they get a bit
3:58
bigger we'll stick a cane in to support
4:00
them to get them growing up the cane um
4:03
hopefully they're taking this compost
4:06
but yeah we've got to get it all sorted
4:10
and fingers crossed they'll start
4:13
growing they look a bit bad at the
4:14
moment but they'll soon perk up now
4:17
they've been given some water so I hope
4:20
you've enjoyed that video make sure you
4:22
stay tuned to see how well we get on
4:23
with the tomatoes and see if we get a
4:25
good crop this year by giving us a
4:27
follow until next time everyone remember
4:30
keep smiling keep shining and keep
4:32
