Let's plant up our borage plants.
0:02
Welcome to Gardening with Ben. And today
0:04
we're going to be putting up our borage
0:06
plants. Now, I've never grown borage
0:08
before. I'm trying more and more stuff
0:09
this year down at the a lotment. And
0:11
I've seen a lot of people mention how
0:13
good borage is for growing. So, I
0:16
thought I'd give it a try as it does
0:18
look attractive and it has benefits to
0:20
it as well. It's great for pollinators
0:22
and the great flowers on it attract the
0:24
pollinators down to the plot and it's
0:27
also a great companion plant. It's great
0:29
for strawberries, tomatoes, and
0:31
corettes, adding nutrients into the
0:34
soil. So, if you're wanting a companion
0:36
plant, borage is absolutely brilliant.
0:38
And you can also eat the leaves as well
0:41
off it, which I didn't know. So, we're
0:43
going to be trying more stuff this year
0:44
and more stuff that we can try and eat
0:46
and see how well it tastes down here at
0:48
the plot. I may have to do a taste
0:50
testing of things to see how well they
0:52
get on. So, let's have a look at the
0:53
borage plants and let's see about
0:55
potting them on. So these are my borage
0:57
plants what I've grown from seed and as
0:59
you can see they're doing really well.
1:01
Absolutely fantastic. This is in
1:03
unheated greenhouse. So they're doing
1:06
really well to say it's unheated as
1:08
we're still getting cold nights down
1:10
here and they're looking absolutely
1:11
great. And as you can see they're
1:13
getting too big for the seed tray. So we
1:15
need to separate them and hopefully get
1:17
some great plants from them. So, we're
1:19
not going to use them all probably, but
1:21
we're going to pot up probably around 15
1:23
to 20 and that should be enough for us
1:26
down at the a lotment. So, let's get
1:28
these potted up and let's get these
1:29
growing on. So, we've putotted all them
1:32
up and we've put labels in them so that
1:34
we know what we're growing in them. And
1:36
we've still got the older spares there,
1:38
what we might share with other people as
1:40
well. But yeah, hopefully we'll get some
1:42
great borage growing this year and
1:44
hopefully they take root in these new
1:46
pots what we've planted them in and see
1:51
So make sure you drop us a follow to
1:53
stay up to date with how well this
1:54
borage grows and see if we get some
1:56
great harvests and pollinators from it
1:58
as well. Until next time everyone,
2:00
remember keep smiling, keep shining and
2:02
keep gardening with Ben everyone.
