Let's plant our spring tulips. Welcome
0:03
to gardening with Ben. We're now in
0:06
November, so it's now time to start
0:08
planting our tulips. Ready for the
0:10
springtime. And wow, have we got a
0:13
selection of tulips. I didn't realize
0:15
how many I've actually bought over these
0:16
last few months. I've just been buying
0:18
them and not realizing and putting them
0:20
away. And I've got them all out. And
0:22
we've got absolutely loads. So, we've
0:24
got loads to get planted today. So
0:26
fingers crossed we get cracking and we
0:28
get a load of these planted and come
0:30
springtime it's going to look absolutely
0:32
phenomenal. So let's have a look at what
0:35
tulips we have got to plant this year.
0:39
So as you can see we have got absolutely
0:42
loads of different varieties of tulips
0:46
to plant. And the thing about tulips is
0:49
that I love the unusual ones. unusual
0:52
looking ones. Obviously, you get your
0:54
normal ones which tend to look like
0:58
these ones, but I do love the unusual
1:01
frilly looking ones, the double ones,
1:05
all the different colored ones like the
1:07
parrot ones. And yeah, they're
1:10
absolutely phenomenal. So, we're going
1:12
to have a spectacular amount of color
1:15
down at our a lotment this year. Well,
1:18
next year now, uh in springtime. So,
1:21
we've got to get all these planted today
1:23
and get them nice and deep. Get them in
1:25
the ground and hopefully Mr. Squirrel
1:28
won't eat them all, which we're going to
1:31
hopefully get them deep enough so that
1:32
he doesn't get them because you don't
1:35
want that. You don't want the squirrel
1:36
eating all your tulips or well, they
1:39
don't eat them. I think they just dig
1:40
them up and like to move them. Uh, I've
1:42
seen them pop up in different a lotments
1:45
previously from where he's dug them all
1:47
up. So yeah, let's work out how we're
1:49
going to get these planted and where
1:51
we're going to plant them all. And we're
1:53
going to use these in our new area as
1:55
well as we've got no spring bulbs up
1:57
there at the moment. So we're going to
1:59
plant a load up in that area. So it
2:01
should look pretty good in the
2:04
springtime. So yeah, let's get all these
2:06
planted.
2:08
So we've placed all our bulbs in the
2:10
areas that we're doing them in. We've
2:11
got these three new beds which I created
2:14
this year. So, we're going to fill these
2:16
up with tarts. So, then they'll look
2:18
absolutely phenomenal come springtime.
2:21
They'll look absolutely gorgeous with
2:24
abundance of color. Eventually, I want a
2:26
center plant in each one of these, but
2:29
we'll probably wait till next year for
2:31
that now. But yeah, we're going to fill
2:33
them with tulips. And we're also putting
2:35
tulips along this back edge here. In
2:39
front of here, we've got all daffodil
2:40
bulbs. So, the tulips are obviously
2:43
taller. So the daffodils are in front
2:45
and the tulips are behind. So that
2:48
should look pretty good once all those
2:50
are out. But yeah, this is my new area
2:52
and it's looking pretty good. We've got
2:53
some new heather in here which looks
2:56
absolutely gorgeous. I've got heather on
2:57
my other parts of my plot. But that's
3:00
purple. This is white and it looks
3:01
gorgeous. So yeah, it's going to look
3:05
pretty good come springtime. We've got
3:07
daffodils down here. Then we've got a
3:09
mixture of bulbs in these ones. So, come
3:12
springtime, this new area will look
3:16
absolutely amazing.
3:19
But lots of leaves are dropping at the
3:20
moment around here, but we'll get those
3:22
up and put them in the compost pile. So,
3:24
yeah, let's get all these planted.
3:29
So, we've got all those planted nice and
3:31
deep. Remember, if you do want to
3:33
protect against squirrels, you can put
3:34
netting over them until they start
3:37
popping through. But we'll see how we
3:39
get on and see if we manage to keep the
3:43
squirrels away. But yeah, we got them
3:44
all in. So yeah, I'm looking forward to
3:47
all them coming up.
3:50
So make sure you drop us a follow so
3:52
that you can stay up to date and come
3:54
back in springtime and see if they're
3:56
actually blooming. See if they're
3:57
actually grown and the squirrel hasn't
3:59
got them all and see how beautiful our
4:03
spring collection is this year. So yeah,
4:06
until next time everyone remember, keep
4:08
smiling, keep shining and keep
4:09
gardening.
