Let's have a November tour of our a
0:02
lotment. Welcome to Gardening with Ben.
0:05
It's been ages since I've given you a
0:07
tour of my plot. That's the reason why
0:10
because it's an absolute tip at the
0:12
moment. But I always say I'm an open and
0:15
honest gardener. So, I'm going to give
0:17
you a full tour and show you exactly
0:19
what it's looking like at the moment.
0:21
So, sit back, relax, and let's enjoy the
0:23
tour. As always, we'll start off at the
0:25
front of our a lotment. And as you can
0:27
see, we've got lots of pansies in this
0:30
front bit, but we've also planted a load
0:32
of tulips. Remember, I planted a load of
0:35
tulips at the top of my plot. We planted
0:36
a load in the front as well. So, fingers
0:39
crossed we do get some great color. As
0:41
hydranger, that's dying off now. But
0:43
remember, don't prune it until it starts
0:46
budding up next year or you may kill it.
0:49
But yeah, I'm looking forward to lots
0:50
and lots of spring color in this front.
0:54
We've got our heather growing. It's
0:57
starting to go purple, starting to
0:59
flower, which will look absolutely
1:01
amazing when it's all out. That's
1:04
getting bigger and bigger every year.
1:05
They only started off as small plants,
1:07
what they were selling off at BNQ. But
1:09
yeah, they're coming on really nice.
1:13
Let's go on to the plot. We still got a
1:15
couple of climbing roses out which is
1:18
looking fantastic. keep cutting off the
1:21
old buds. But yeah, it's still
1:23
flowering. While it's still flowering,
1:25
I'm still happy.
1:31
Now we've got the front of the plot. We
1:34
still got some geraniums flowering. We
1:36
really do need to get all those dug out
1:38
and put in the shed to over winter them,
1:41
keep them alive, and keep them going. We
1:44
pruned back all the plum tree this year.
1:46
It got a bit too big. But yeah, we need
1:48
to get rid of all that rubbish. But
1:50
yeah, hopefully we've got spring bulbs
1:52
all this down these sides. So, we do
1:54
need to get all this cleared before all
1:56
those start growing. We've got a mammoth
1:58
job cooked in the cooking apple tree
2:00
back this year. It's absolutely huge.
2:04
That's a job for once all the leaves
2:06
have come off. But yeah, hopefully get
2:08
those sorted.
2:11
Now to go down here. This is one of my
2:14
new areas that I did this year. We've
2:16
got absolutely loads of color coming
2:19
out. The cichlmen's growing really nice
2:21
and flowering. We've still got fuchia
2:24
on.
2:26
But yeah, we've got a load of bulbs in
2:28
here as well. So come springtime,
2:30
they'll look absolutely amazing. We've
2:32
got some free cichlmen what they was
2:34
giving away at the cop. So we need to
2:36
get those planted. I just left them
2:37
outside to get some water so that
2:39
they're back to life. But yeah, fingers
2:42
crossed it'll look good that
2:45
now into the poly tunnel. You know, I've
2:47
been absolutely busy tidying clearing
2:50
all this out. It's not finished yet.
2:52
That's our new bench. What we've got uh
2:54
what I got an Amazon vouch from my
2:56
family. So, I bought a new garden bench,
2:59
which is absolutely amazing. That's
3:00
going to go to the top of my plot. But
3:02
yeah, we've been clearing out loads and
3:04
loads of rubbish. Got to take all that
3:06
to the tip tomorrow, get that tidied
3:08
out. But the job will be to rip all the
3:11
flooring up and dig it over, level it
3:14
out, get all the bind weed out, and put
3:17
some new flooring down, ready for next
3:20
year.
3:22
There's Christmas potatoes. They're
3:24
coming on. We need to give them a water.
3:26
But they're growing well in here. They
3:29
should be ready around Christmas time
3:31
for hopefully a great harvest.
3:34
I'm not going to climb down that side
3:35
cuz it's a bit wild at the moment. But
3:37
all the grape vines are turning red,
3:39
dying off now for the year. Hopefully
3:42
they come back next year cuz we got some
3:43
great grapes on them this year. But
3:45
yeah, we got to clear all the strawberry
3:47
beds area out and tidy all that up and
3:50
get it looking smart ready for next
3:51
year. But that shouldn't be too big a
3:54
job to get all that cleared and ready
3:55
for next year.
3:59
Now onto my a lotment. We had as new
4:02
raised beds what we built which look
4:05
absolutely amazing full of pansies.
4:07
We've got climbers climbing up the
4:08
arches. So fingers crossed we'll get
4:10
some nice flowers on them next year.
4:13
Again we've got us climbing rows which
4:15
I've pruned back and tidied up on that
4:17
one which looks great. But yeah, we're
4:19
going to get a load of spring bulbs in
4:21
these pot beds as well. We've got so
4:23
many growing.
4:25
And I'm just going to show you down
4:26
here. We've got so many apples left to
4:28
pick. Look at all these. with unundated
4:32
with apples this year. Absolutely
4:33
inundated. I'm even letting the
4:35
squirrels and blackbirds eat them. But
4:38
yeah, we'll get some more off and then
4:40
get them tidied up ready for the winter
4:43
once they go dormant.
4:49
Down here we've got some onions in.
4:51
They're popping through. We got some
4:53
snowball onions and some yellow onions
4:56
coming on. Right. All we got as broad
4:59
beans which are doing amazing. Keeping
5:01
those covered to stop them getting eaten
5:04
away. Really impressed we have that
5:06
coming on.
5:08
Then this is our Chinese garlic. We
5:12
planted Chinese garlic to compare
5:14
against UK garlic over there. So at the
5:18
moment the UK garlic is looking better
5:22
than the Chinese one. I wanted to do it
5:24
as an experiment. I know I always tell
5:25
you not to plant Chinese garlic, but I
5:27
wanted to do it as an experiment to see
5:29
what if it is actually bad to grow. So,
5:32
we'll give it a try. I do love an
5:34
experiment. We've got shellots in this
5:38
bed and some more onions. What we got
5:40
from Simply Seed. They're a bit behind
5:42
them ones, so they're not growing as
5:45
much yet. And same again with these.
5:47
We've got Simply Seed broad beans in.
5:50
They're a bit behind as we planted them
5:52
later.
5:54
And then again, we've got some garlic in
5:57
these beds. So, yeah, need to put that
6:02
uh netting back over. Something's been
6:04
at them. And then my plot looks
6:06
absolutely abysmal.
6:08
But we'll get on. We'll crack on. We're
6:10
doing a bit of time working us way up
6:12
and getting it all tidy. We've got all
6:14
the beds to rebuild, all the path to
6:16
sort out again. But yeah, it's a looking
6:19
a mess at the moment. But we'll crack on
6:21
and get there. Don't worry, it'll be
6:24
ready for springtime.
6:26
And this is the top of my plot where we
6:28
got his new arches up as new area that
6:30
we did. Again, we got the raised beds
6:33
with pansies in and climbers in. So
6:36
hopefully we'll get some nice climbers
6:38
growing up these. In here, we've got
6:41
pansies. And yesterday, we planted loads
6:44
of tulips in these. Absolutely loads.
6:46
So, they're going to be full abundance
6:48
with tulips. In here we've got tulips
6:52
and daffodil. So again, it's going to
6:54
look absolutely amazing. And then we've
6:57
got some new heather what we planted
6:59
which is white which looks gorgeous. And
7:02
in here we've got mascara blue bells and
7:07
little daffodils as well. So yeah, it's
7:10
going to look good come springtime. But
7:12
yeah, we're cracking on, working his way
7:15
up, getting it all tided, getting it all
7:18
sorted, and hopefully a good year for
7:22
next year's growing. I want it to be the
7:24
best looking plot that it's ever looked.
7:26
Oh, and down this side, we planted
7:28
absolutely loads of daffodils.
7:31
So hopefully we'll get a nice display of
7:34
daffodils down that side. And again,
7:36
same down that side. We planted a row of
7:38
daffodil down that side. So fingers
7:41
crossed the plot is going to look
7:43
absolutely amazing of
7:46
spring color in springtime. We've got a
7:50
bird bath. The birds absolutely love it.
7:52
We keep the bird feeders filled up so
7:54
that the birds enjoy them. Absolutely
7:57
loads of bird feeders. Keeping them
7:59
going and keeping them eating it. But
8:03
yeah, we will get there. And once it's
8:06
all done, I can sit and relax on my new
8:08
bench. So, thank you for watching my
8:11
tour of my aotment. Make sure you drop
8:13
us a follow to stay up to date with how
8:14
well all those videos are getting on and
8:16
as tips and advice. Until next time,
8:19
everyone. Remember, keep smiling, keep
8:21
shining, and keep gardening with Ben.
