0:00
hey everybody and welcome to Gardening
0:03
with Ben in today's video we're going to
0:05
be planting some sweet corn seeds as
0:08
some of my sweet corn isn't doing too
0:10
good what I've sewn so we're going to
0:12
get some marin and we're going to get a
0:15
lot in to be honest we've got three
0:17
packets of this sweet corn swift F1 now
0:23
these are Wilco seeds wilco seeds always
0:25
usually do very well which you can get
0:27
from the range and they're pretty cheap
0:30
a cheap pack of seeds uh one of the
0:32
cheapest places that I always go to is
0:35
uh Wilro seeds i used to go to the Wil
0:37
Coast shops when they were around but
0:39
since the range of taking them off I go
0:41
there to get all my seeds now so we're
0:44
going to be sewing these and getting
0:45
them started and hopefully germinated
0:47
within a couple of weeks and then we'll
0:50
plant them out once they're big enough
0:52
to hopefully get a delicious crop of
0:55
sweet corn this year cuz that's what we
0:56
want a fantastic crop i always do well
0:59
at growing sweet corn and we always seem
1:01
to get a good crop and there's nothing
1:04
tastier than homegrown sweet corn if
1:06
you've never grown home grown sweet corn
1:08
and tasted it you will see the
1:10
difference in it is absolutely gorgeous
1:13
so let's get sewing these
1:15
seeds so these are the sweet corn that
1:18
I've sewn so far as you can see they're
1:20
not brilliant so we're going to get
1:21
another crop in hopefully get them
1:24
growing and get some delicious sweet
1:27
growing so I'm going to try planting
1:29
them in these rather than in trays as
1:31
they're a bit deeper and they might grow
1:33
better in them so we're going to get
1:35
some seeds and get them in also we need
1:38
to get us compost in so let's get all us
1:40
compost in so we've got the compost in
1:43
so we're going to pop a few seeds in
1:45
each one and then cover them over with
1:49
compost and there we have it we've got
1:51
all the seeds in his trays so I just
1:53
need to cover them over with compost and
1:56
then give them a good
2:03
watering there we are all nicely covered
2:07
so let's give them a good drink of water
2:09
now so they're all watered and my next
2:12
little trick what I always use to get
2:14
things germinated faster is cling film
2:16
putting cling film over them keeps them
2:18
moist keeps them warmer and will speed
2:21
up germination so let's get them covered
2:24
so there we have it all of them sealed
2:26
up nice and cozy so hopefully they'll
2:29
all germinate within a week hopefully
2:31
depending on the weather fingers crossed
2:33
it's going to be a warm week this
2:36
weekend so let's see how they get on
2:39
make sure you come back to keep up to
2:41
date so I hope you've enjoyed that
2:43
little video and sharing that little tip
2:45
of advice of using the cleaning film to
2:47
keep them moist and keep them warmer and
2:50
speed up germination make sure you drop
2:52
us a follow for lots more tips and
2:54
advice videos so until next time
2:56
everyone remember keep smiling keep
2:58
shining and keep gardening i'm a balif
