This tool is simply a stainless steel hook, about 2mm in cross section. This thickness gives it plenty of strength to push down between pavers and pull up whatever has taken root, but there are occasions that I wish it were a little thinner. On balance I think WG have chosen a reasonable tradeoff between rigidity and thinness.
The finish of the tool is nice out of the box, all of the edges have been finished and there’s nothing that will slice the unwary. The steel isn’t too soft, the finish does get a bit scuffed up by the pavers but after several bouts of weeding it hasn’t developed any potentially injurious and sharp nicks or burrs. I’ve been somewhat (but not excessively) careful about putting it away clean and dry and thus far I see no signs of corrosion.
