0:00
hey everyone and welcome back to
0:01
gardening with Ben today's video we're
0:04
going to talk about making a plan for
0:06
your garden and your alotment at this
0:08
time of year now is the perfect time to
0:10
be making a plan for your garden and
0:12
alotment the reason why we say this is
0:14
that usually at this time of year you've
0:16
cleared it all away which I'm in the
0:18
process of doing and you're are creating
0:20
a blank canvas ready for next year so
0:23
now is the time to obviously get a piece
0:25
of paper out and draw how your garden or
0:29
allotment wants to be where you want to
0:30
grow stuff and where you want to plant
0:32
stuff or whether you want to build some
0:34
new beds or some New Paths or have some
0:38
containers plan it all out where you
0:40
want to have stuff on your elopment I do
0:43
this every single year I've not changed
0:44
my layout for quite a few years because
0:46
it's perfect now I've got my paths
0:48
sorted I've got my beds in the right
0:50
place the only thing I I improve is if I
0:53
get some Paving slaps I use them for
0:55
paths which is improving it over the
0:58
years but obviously Paving slaps are
0:59
getting expensive now so I only get a
1:01
few Paving slabs year after year so
1:05
obviously once you've drawn your plan
1:07
plan where you want to plant stuff on
1:09
your alotment or in the garden don't
1:11
grow stuff in the same place that you've
1:13
had it the year before because the
1:16
plants that have been in it the year
1:17
before will have taken the nutrition
1:19
that they need for that plant so try and
1:22
rotate where you want your crops to grow
1:24
and also look at where the sun shines as
1:27
well in your garden or your alotment
1:29
obviously you don't want want to plant
1:30
stuff that needs full sun in the shade
1:32
so have a look around and see where
1:34
you're going to be growing stuff but
1:36
yeah now is the time to be making that
1:38
plant also have a look on
1:40
your on the internet have a look at
1:43
different types of seeds get order seed
1:45
cataloges or go to the shops garden
1:48
centers and see what flowers and
1:49
vegetables out there there's loads of
1:52
different varieties and I always say is
1:54
try something new every single year
1:57
there's loads of different varieties
1:58
like same goes for like squash es
2:00
there's loads of different varieties
2:02
different shapes different sizes
2:03
different varieties it's good to try
2:05
different stuff and I do this with
2:08
myself one year I tried doing different
2:10
squashes one year I tried doing
2:12
different French type beans uh they were
2:15
all different colored beans like purple
2:17
yellow speckled beans all different
2:20
varieties of beans so it's good to try
2:22
new stuff and different varieties of
2:25
stuff and next year my plan is to try
2:29
and grow different types of pansies not
2:31
pansies poppies different varieties of
2:33
poppies so we're going to be having a
2:35
look around and seeing all the different
2:36
varieties of poppies you can grow and
2:39
obviously growing poppies you can get
2:41
save all the seeds and you can scatter
2:43
them around for next year as well so
2:46
have a look around see what you're going
2:47
to grow let me know in the comments if
2:49
you're going to try something new this
2:52
next year not this year next year try
2:54
something new at the Garden and yeah
2:57
it's always good to try something new
2:59
and as I've said said in some of my
3:00
videos I'm going to try and grow sweet
3:02
potatoes next year I've never grown
3:04
sweet potatoes before in the whole time
3:06
that I've had the allotment so that's
3:08
going to be something new for me to try
3:09
next year growing sweet potatoes so give
3:12
it a try try something new and see what
3:15
you come up with so feel free to leave
3:17
some comments below give it a like and
3:20
feel free to follow me as well if you
3:21
don't already follow me so until next
3:23
time everyone remember keep smiling keep
3:26
shining and keep gardening with bed
