hey everyone and welcome back to
0:02
gardening room Ben in today's video
0:04
we're going to give you a tour of our
0:05
allotment we're do this on a weekly
0:07
basis now as everybody seems to be
0:08
liking this video and seeing how the
0:10
allotments progress in throughout the
0:12
year and what we've been getting up to
0:14
what we've been tiing and what we've
0:16
been clearing obviously we're doing our
0:18
weekend blogs now where we're sharing
0:20
what we're getting up to down here and
0:22
yeah I hope you enjoying all these
0:24
videos we're trying to put as many
0:25
videos out there as possible for you to
0:27
watch and enjoy and hopefully give you
0:30
some encouragement as well to get out in
0:32
your Gardens during this winter period
0:35
because it is the best time to be
0:37
getting everything tidy and sorted ready
0:39
for next year you don't know what the
0:41
winter is going to be like it could be
0:42
absolutely manic we could have snow for
0:44
all the winter and you might not be able
0:46
to get down to the allotment or to the
0:47
Garden so now is a perfect time to be
0:50
getting it all cleared all prepared and
0:52
all tided ready for next year so let's
0:54
have a tour of our alotment and see
0:56
what's growing and what's not growing
0:58
down here I hope you all enjoy
1:00
oh look at that Mr squirrel's out having
1:02
my peanuts and Seed absolutely loves it
1:07
the py little things we're going to
1:09
start off at the front of the alotment
1:10
like we always do obviously we've still
1:12
got some fuches around each week we
1:14
pinch off some of these like we
1:17
do but yeah the fuches are still
1:20
flowering it's still looking good the
1:22
hether starting to come out that's
1:23
starting to get its flowers on it
1:25
fingers crossed it'll all be blooming
1:27
nice pretty soon and we'll have plenty
1:30
of purple color coming through cuz he's
1:32
absolutely gorgeous in the alotment and
1:34
garden I only bought these for 50 P
1:36
years ago and they Bush out really well
1:39
hyd Rangers dying off now ready for the
1:42
year but yeah the berries are getting
1:44
eaten by the birdies keep the berries
1:46
growing and let the birds enjoy them but
1:49
yeah like I said we've still got flowers
1:51
on the fuches absolutely
1:54
gorgeous but we've got hundreds of bulbs
1:56
in here we've planted so many bulbs in
1:58
the front of this plot so fingers
2:00
crossed come springtime we'll be showing
2:02
a beautiful spring look but yeah look at
2:06
all flowers out on fuchia still
2:08
absolutely
2:10
alerts you can see some of the bulbs are
2:13
starting to pop food now in the
2:16
garden but something's been at them by
2:19
probably the squirrel as they do but
2:22
yeah lots of bulbs popping through at
2:24
the front of the plot which is a good
2:27
sign
2:30
we've still got some roses out on the
2:32
climbing rows they'll all be dying off
2:34
when it gets colder but they're still
2:36
growing we meant to be a heatwave this
2:38
year but uh this week but we'll see
2:40
we'll see what it looks like but yeah
2:42
plenty of buds still out on them as you
2:44
just saw the squirrel was enjoying all
2:47
the seed but we're feeding the birds the
2:50
birds have started appearing again as I
2:52
mentioned the other week The Spar Hawk
2:54
were around so we've not seen no birds
2:57
but the birds are around again and the
2:59
be been enjoying the seeds which is a
3:02
good
3:04
sign but yeah we've still got to work on
3:06
this area it's not a rush to get this
3:09
area sorted but I'm happy with how it's
3:11
all coming
3:13
on let's have a look down
3:16
here we've got those fat balls up as
3:18
well as birds do love fat
3:24
balls all around the fruit trees is all
3:28
starting to die off you can see some
3:30
rhubarb just popping through which is
3:33
which will die off when it does get cold
3:35
but yeah we won't be harvesting any
3:37
rhubarb now until next year we've got
3:40
all this area to clear that's on my jobs
3:41
to-do list that'll be one weekend's work
3:45
as there's a lot of brambles down the
3:46
back of there and we've got all them
3:48
leaves clear up you've got to make sure
3:50
all the fruits picked up as well cuz you
3:51
don't want to leave any around or it'll
3:53
cause diseases so we got all that to
3:55
clear and get it all tided ready for
3:57
next year ready for all the fruit trees
3:59
but there's still a lot of leaves to
4:01
drop off but the cooking apple tree
4:03
leaves aren't dropping off yet they're
4:06
just starting to turn yellow so we've
4:08
still got a long time before all these
4:10
drop off on the cooking apple
4:13
tree down this side we've got us fuches
4:17
and yeah they're all doing well they've
4:20
all dying back a bit now but they're all
4:22
looking pretty clear down here again
4:24
we've got absolutely hundreds of bulbs
4:25
in here so fingers crossed come
4:27
springtime it's going to look Absol
4:29
absolutely gorgeous down here I've still
4:33
got some garlic left from last year what
4:35
I need to eat but yeah all that's dried
4:37
out nicely now we after to use that up
4:40
my pumpkins some of them are going a bit
4:42
funny they're not ripened fully so we're
4:44
going to save the seeds from them for
4:46
next year we not necessarily eat them
4:48
but we'll just save the seeds for next
4:50
year and grow our pumpkins from
4:53
them as Christmas potatoes they've died
4:56
off the plants have died off they've not
4:59
lasted as as long as I thought they
5:00
would do I hoping to like Harvest them
5:02
towards later November but next week
5:04
we're going to harvest them we're going
5:06
to harvest our Christmas potatoes next
5:08
week down at the allotment so make sure
5:10
you stay tuned for that video for the
5:12
reveal of what potatoes we've got out of
5:15
them fingers crossed we do get some or
5:18
it'll not be a very good
5:21
reveal in my Greenhouse we've got us
5:24
cuttings we need to give these a water
5:26
again this week we only water once a
5:27
week uh but yeah I might have to get
5:30
these out in the ground soon somebody
5:31
said to leave them till Springtime but
5:34
they are drying out pretty fast each
5:36
week so I don't want them to die off as
5:37
you can see that one's dying off but
5:40
yeah we're going to repot them up into
5:42
bigger pots we'll have to think about
5:44
what we want to do with they call Salvia
5:47
I forgotten the name but they're Salvia
5:49
these but yeah we'll see how they get on
5:53
what's growing around here oh look at
5:56
that look at that the pesky little
5:59
things
6:02
I grew them in pots to stop them from
6:04
getting eaten and now they've got eaten
6:06
by something bloody
6:08
owl like I said I show you the good
6:10
things I show you the disasters and the
6:12
broad beans have all been eaten I'm
6:15
guessing that's a squirrel the pesky
6:17
squirrel we've got a sweet peas they're
6:20
popping
6:21
through we've got lots of flowers
6:23
growing all around
6:26
here we got some more sweet peas we' got
6:29
some Char what we need to plant out
6:32
which needs to get out in the ground
6:34
we've got loopings growing we've got Mar
6:36
Salvia and we've got all these sweet
6:38
peas as well growing around this area
6:41
look at all them growing we're going to
6:43
have a massive display of sweet peas
6:44
next year fingers crossed we grow them
6:46
now so that the stronger plants ready
6:49
for next
6:50
year as you can see the Logan B is
6:52
growing absolutely wild it's turning a
6:55
nice color of red now I do love this
6:57
color of red absolutely gorgeous
7:00
looks absolutely
7:01
beautiful I do love autumn colors
7:04
absolutely
7:05
gorgeous these are all my 200 strawberry
7:08
plants there a cat hello cat
7:11
he's expecting me to feed
7:13
him we're calling him
7:16
suty but yeah we've got a bird feeder
7:19
which my dad's put a little thing around
7:21
it to stop the squirrels from getting up
7:22
it which seems to be working on that
7:26
one just not on that one over there
7:29
which it were just
7:32
on but yeah hello
7:35
cat but yeah e keeps the rats down which
7:38
is a good
7:39
thing we don't want the rats down here
7:42
but look at this grape vine as well
7:45
absolutely gorgeous Reds on it it's
7:47
turned a very nice color
7:51
red but yeah we've got so much to clear
7:55
there forless blackberry's gone wild as
7:57
well we're going to be moving that and
7:59
it that down that side at fencing soon
8:01
sorting that out but it's a job on our
8:04
list to
8:09
do we've cleared all down that side of
8:11
the fencing which looks absolutely great
8:14
again that's my forless black PR did
8:16
absolutely fantastic we need to tie all
8:18
that up we' given some of it of prune
8:20
but yeah it's done really well this year
8:22
my phone is black bre we still got some
8:24
beetroot in we're going to be harvesting
8:26
that soon fingers crossed we do get some
8:29
decent beat rot from that as garlic
8:32
looking absolutely fantastic not all of
8:34
them have come up yet but fingers cross
8:36
the allall start popping up soon we give
8:37
him a feed as well this weekend we've
8:40
sprinkled some fertilizer on them and
8:43
hopefully we'll get some decent sized
8:45
garlic growing I put the netting on them
8:48
to stop the squirrels and the pigeons
8:49
eating them and pinching them and it
8:51
seems to have worked fine the same goes
8:54
for my onions they're not starting to
8:56
show yet we've got one which is popping
8:58
through but yeah fingers cross will all
9:01
start popping through in a bit we need
9:02
to push some of them back in the F
9:04
coming out but yeah we've cleared all
9:07
our allotment all the beds are empty now
9:09
all tided we've got all the paths to
9:12
clear next that's our next job to do but
9:14
my main job was clearing all the beds
9:16
first of all the weeds and all the old
9:19
Seasons produce and I've got to say I'm
9:22
pretty impressed with myself I've got
9:24
all this done
9:25
already so the next big job is sorting
9:28
all the paths out and getting them to
9:30
and maybe some new mulch down ready for
9:33
next year but we'll see about that we
9:35
see but yeah I'm happy without it's all
9:38
coming
9:39
on so that has been our weekly tour
9:42
video I hope you enjoyed it come back
9:44
next week and see our next week's video
9:46
fingers crossed we've got loads more
9:48
done and hopefully we'll have harvested
9:49
them Christmas potatoes as well so make
9:52
sure you give us a follow give us a like
9:53
and leave a comment below until next
9:55
time everyone remember keep smiling keep
9:58
shining and keep guarding B everyone
