I earned my degree online at Arizona
0:33
State University. I chose to get my
0:35
degree at ASU because I knew that I'd
0:38
get a quality education, they were
0:40
recognized for excellence, and that I
0:41
would be prepared for the workforce upon
0:43
graduating. To be associated with ASU,
0:47
both as a student and alum, it makes me

extremely proud. And having experienced

the program, I know now that I'm set up

1:43
Hey everyone and welcome back to
1:46
Gardening with Ben for your Friday's
1:49
episode. The weekend is finally here.
1:52
Thank goodness. It's time to enjoy the
1:55
weekend. It's time to get back in the
1:58
gardens and it's time to enjoy being out
2:01
in the fresh air again. If you've been
2:03
stuck inside all week, it's a savior
2:06
when you can spend time back in your
2:08
garden, back enjoying what you're doing.
2:12
And I know I certainly do. I love being
2:14
back outside after being stuck inside
2:17
all week. I do love to be out in the
2:20
garden. Even if I'm not doing anything,
2:22
I just love to sit there and enjoy being
2:24
out in the fresh air. Now, I do pop down
2:27
to my a lotment a couple of times in the
2:30
week, which I have done this week. And
2:33
while I've been down there this week,
2:35
I've popped into my poly tunnel. I've
2:38
checked that the water irrigation system
2:40
still working, which it is. Thankfully,
2:42
we're having to fill the wheeler bin
2:44
back up every few days, but it's keeping
2:47
them wet. It's keeping them moist. And
2:49
yeah, it's saved watering them. and I've
2:52
noticed that I've got a sudden increase
2:55
of tomatoes growing on my tomato plants.
2:58
Whether it's because I pinched the tops
3:00
off them and they're now starting to
3:02
concentrate on growing the tomatoes
3:04
maybe or it's down to the irrigation
3:06
system. It's either one, whatever I've
3:09
done, it's made my tomatoes grow. So
3:12
hopefully it will keep them fruing all
3:14
the way up to October, which would be
3:16
absolutely amazing. Trading at Schwab is

With so many options, why choose Arizona
3:52
For me, the only online option was ASU
3:54
because of the quality. Their faculty
3:56
was really involved with their students
3:58
and care about your personal journey.
4:00
The dedication to my personal
4:03
development from my professors. That's
4:05
been extremely valuable to me.

4:20
And I had a look at my melon plants as
4:23
well while I were down there. And the
4:25
this small little melon were there at
4:27
the weekend. It's starting to swell up
4:29
pretty fast. So, it's growing quite fast
4:32
in the poly tunnel, which is absolutely
4:34
amazing. Now, I still don't know what
4:36
variety these are. It's looking like
4:39
they could be possibly a watermelon
4:42
because of the shape of them. They're
4:43
not like a ball shape. They're like long
4:45
and oval. So, I'm guessing they could be
4:48
watermelon. So, we'll have to wait and
4:50
see and see what we actually have grown
4:54
down at the a lotment. Fingers crossed
4:56
it is a watermelon because I've never
4:58
grown watermelons before. So, that will
5:01
be a first for me. And if I get one off
5:03
out of all the plants that I've got, I
5:05
will be absolutely amazed. So, make sure
5:08
you stay tuned to see how well our
5:10
watermelons are doing. I keep sharing
5:12
updates on my Instagram and on my
5:14
Facebook. So, make sure you're following
5:18
What else have we been up to? We've
5:20
checked on us pumpkins today. And yes,
5:23
they are swelling as well. All this rain
5:25
that we've had this week has done the
5:28
pumpkins absolutely fantastic. And one
5:31
of them is starting to go orange
5:33
already. So that's a good sign that it
5:36
is ripening. We just need it to grow a
5:38
bit bigger. It's about the size of a
5:42
small football at the moment. It's not
5:44
the size of a big football, but a
5:48
So we do need it to expand and grow a
5:51
lot more and hopefully get a lot bigger.
5:55
We've also been out and bought August's
5:58
edition of Grow Your Own magazine. I've
6:00
not opened it yet. I need to do a grand
6:02
reveal, show what seeds are inside, and
6:05
see if we can use any of these for
6:07
sewing this month. We've also been to
6:12
Morrison's where I always have a sneaky
6:14
look at all the reduced plants. I never
6:16
buy plants at full price. That is one
6:19
rule that I stick to. I always buy them
6:21
when they're reduced. And most often,
6:24
supermarkets will reduce plants because
6:26
they don't keep on top of watering. And
6:29
today I have bought some large can
6:33

6:35

6:37
more personalized so you can go further
6:39
in your aspiring field.
6:40
I decided to pursue medicine once I
6:42
realized that ASU did have the online
6:45
program for biological sciences. You're
6:47
still required to learn the same
6:49
curriculum. You're still being tested on
6:51
the same content that anyone would be
6:52
tested on in person. The
6:54
comprehensiveness of the program
6:56
prepared me so well for medical school.

7:19
Uh canas or however you say it. I'm not
7:21
very good at pronouncing things, but
7:23
yeah, we bought two large canners. They
7:25
were meant to be £8 each, but these were
7:28
reduced to two pound. So, I thought
7:30
bargain, I'm getting them. So, I've got
7:33
them. No idea what I need to do with
7:34
them because I'm not good with flowers.
7:37
But, we'll have a read up and we'll keep
7:39
you updated on what we need to do with
7:41
them and how well they grow. And if
7:43
anybody else grows them out there, send
7:45
me a message on Instagram and let me
7:48
know how to grow them because I would
7:50
like to know and hopefully I think they
7:53
do have flowers on them. So yeah, we'll
7:56
see if we can actually get them growing
7:58
and get some great beauty on them. So
8:01
we've done that. What else have we done
8:04
this week down at the a lotment? We've
8:06
not done much else. We've done some
8:08
harvesting. We've been harvesting our
8:10
tomatoes, of course, on a regular basis.
8:13
Every time I go down to the a lotment,
8:14
there's more tomatoes to pick. But I'm
8:16
not complaining because they only last
8:18
me a couple of days and then I'm back
8:21
down to the a lotment and harvesting
8:23
some more. So, they keep me going and
8:25
just the right amount of tomatoes for
8:27
me. Um, not too many, not too less and I
8:30
can just keep on top of eating them all,
8:32
which is absolutely amazing.
8:35
So, that is basically what we have been
8:38
up to down at the a lotment this week.
8:41
Obviously, in tomorrow's podcast, we're
8:43
going to talk about our plans for the a
8:45
lotment for the weekend, what we're
8:47
planning on doing, and what we're going
8:50
to hopefully get done. Um, oh, that's
8:53
another thing. Yes, I've got to tell you
8:55
this. I've also purchased a new
8:59
microphone for doing my videos with as
9:02
well. Um, it's one of the DJI mics,
9:05
which is apparently one of the best ones
9:06
that you can get for filming videos. Uh,
9:09
it's got noise reduction on it as well.
9:12
So then when I'm doing my videos in my
9:14
poly tunnel and you can hear screaming
9:16
and shouting from the park or um the
9:18
wind and the rain, you won't hear none
9:20
of that anymore. So it'll be nice and
9:22
clear and hopefully produce better
9:25
videos. So, as I always say, everything
9:27
that goes from these podcasts and for my
9:30
videos goes back into my creation of
9:33
doing stuff for you guys. So, thank you
9:35
for those that do listen to the podcast
9:37
and everything. So, it all goes back to
9:40
giving you more content, which I
9:42
absolutely love. I' If I could do this
9:44
fulltime, I certainly would do. So, make
9:47
sure you listen to these podcasts a
9:48
million times a day and then I'll be
9:52
But yeah, I do love it so much.
9:55
And yeah, like I said, tomorrow's
9:57
podcast, we'll be talking about
9:58
everything that we're hoping to get done
10:00
down at the plot. Hopefully, we're going
10:01
to have a busy weekend down at the plot
10:03
this weekend. I've got a lot of things
10:06
planned and hopefully film a lot of
10:08
videos for you for Facebook and
10:10
Instagram and sharing more tips and
10:13
advice with you all and obviously
10:15
recording more podcasts for the week
10:17
ahead. I hope you've enjoyed all this
10:19
week's podcasts. We have managed to get
10:21
one out every single day for you. So,
10:22
we'll try again next week. So, until
