Naked Gardening Day

World Naked Gardening Day is celebrated every year around every country in the world.. WNGD is always celebrated on the 1st Saturday of May. This day is celebrated all around the world for all adults to enjoy getting bare with nature and the plants. This year it was celebrated on 2nd May 2020.

World Naked Gardening Day was launched and founded by Mark Storey and Jacob Gabriel. The day is not owned by any organisation.

World Naked Gardening Day has spread round the globe at a rapid speed thanks to Social Media. Many Allotment holders and gardeners get involved in celebrating the day. This often is taking a picture of yourself doing something in the garden in the nude but obviously covering your private regions and sharing the pictures online for others to enjoy.

Everyone who takes part enjoys finding objects and scenes to set in the garden. Using tools, watering cans, compost bags, plant pots to cover up their naughty areas. This day is about celebrating all them gardening jobs, weeding, planting flowers and trimming hedges in the buff

The first time World Naked Gardening Day took place was on September 10, 2005. In 2007 the date moved to the first Saturday of May and has stayed their ever since. Being on the 1st Saturday of May its easy to remember when the day is so it does not slip your mind.

The day is often celebrated in a secluded area so others cannot see as you could get into trouble. The day is meant to be a light heated and funny day where all adults can enjoy and get involved.

The next World Naked Gardening Day is on 1st May 2021 – will you get involved. Just watch out for nettles and thistles they can hurt!
