Why August is Berry Baking Month
- Peak flavor: Berries are plump, sweet (or tart), and wonderfully aromatic.
- Abundant harvest: Even a small handful of berries can stretch into a traybake or individual crumbles.
- Festive and nostalgic: Fruit pies and crumbles are crowd-pleasers—served warm on cooler nights or with ice cream in late summer sun.

Berry Pie & Crumble Tips
- Mix hedgerow blackberries with apples for a traditional English taste.
- Freeze extra berries in single layers—use straight from the freezer for pies and crumbles later in the year.
- Try spicing fillings with cinnamon, ginger, or lemon zest for a flavor twist.
Few desserts capture August better than a bubbling fruit crumble or a juicy pie. Share with friends, serve by the spoonful, and taste the very best of your summer garden.
