  • We’ve always bought cheap before but as I was buying this as a present for my husband I thought I’d pay a little more and he’s thrilled with them, he has arthritis in his hands so needs an easy squeeze and these fit the bill nicely.   • I’m super impressed with these loppers. I’ve been using them to chop back a massive laurel bush that has some branches as thick as my wrist and these loppers can even get through those. The ratchet action was a revelation – it means that the power of each cut is multiplied and they automatically slip up a gear with each cut if more strength is needed for thicker cutting. Maybe I just haven’t used ratcheted loppers or pruners before and this is normal, but it’s my first ones with this amazing super strength mechanical aid and it’s truly upgraded my gardening abilities.
  • If you’ve got thick branches that you need to cut back then these will do the job. They’re not going to chop down trees of course so don’t go forcing them or you’ll break them like any tool, but these are great and I’d recommend them to anyone.

  • I bought this product having read a review for much more expensive Wilkinson Sword secateurs. This review suggested that these Tabor ones were a better purchase so I gave it a go. I am very pleased with them. They are very sharp, the handles are comfortable, the locking catch is excellent – they do not accidentally lock as some other brands do and the quick ‘squeeze’ release is most useful. I haven’t had these secateurs for long but they are already well used and I would highly recommend them.
  • I found these pruning shears to be very sharp and easy to use. The closure retaining clip on the end of the handle is a nice touch and doesn’t get in the way when using the shears. They fit well into my slightly smaller hands and the handles are well shaped. Only slight issue I have is that the metal handles appear to have thin shrink wrapped tubing on them for cushioning – this has a habit of slipping and has no effective cushioning in place. A proper dipped handle or better cushioning would be better and make then more comfortable to use. Other than that I’m very happy with them.

  • Other reviewers have added the detail that you need to know so I will just say that after receiving the tool this morning I cut and sawed through the branches of my ‘very much in need of pruning’ cherry tree in minutes. The saw is uber sharp and the cutter snips 30-40mm branches with ease. At one point I had it fully extended with my arms outstretched to saw through a thick branch: the tool isn’t very heavy and didn’t make my arms ache because once the blade is resting on the branch the weight is taken, and literally 2 minutes of gentle sawing did the job. I’m pleased I bought this instead of a £100 step ladder and fumbling around with a large wood saw and loppers.
  • However, a word of warning: If you have the tool fully extended, be careful when it comes to lowering it back. I held the tool near the clamp with my left hand as I unscrewed the clamping nut, and the bar shot down with the metal bracket bashing against my fingers like a guillotine lol. No harm done but be careful.
