How to Freeze Potatoes

  1. Decide if you are going to peel the potatoes or not.
  2. Cut the potatoes in to the size and shape you require.
  3. Place them in a pan steam the potatoes until soft but not to soft to eat. The main thing about freezing potatoes is not to cook them fully just enough
  4. The time it will take to cook the potatoes will depend on how thick the potatoes are that you have sliced up.
  5. When your potatoes are cooked but not fully cooked you need to drain all the water out of the pan.
  6. Chuck the potatoes into a bowl of ice water. This will stop the cooking process.
  7. Once the potatoes have cooled down drain them again and place them on a piece of kitchen roll to dry out.
  8. Once the potatoes have fully cooled down you need to get a baking tray and place a piece of grease proof paper on it.
  9. Carefully place the potato slices on the baking tray so they are not touching.
  10. Place the tray in the freezer for around 12 hours till they are frozen solid.
  11. Take them out of the freezer and put the slices in a zip lock bag.
  12. Put the date on the bag so you know when you cooked them. The reason why you do not put them straight into the bag is that they will all freeze together.
  13. You can store your frozen potatoes in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  14. When you are ready to use them take them out of the freezer and finish the cooking process.
