- This is an excellent well-made product that fits together well and should give years of service. The quality and finish is well above average, and is made of aluminium, won’t rust in the greenhouse. The instructions are pretty basic, with just a few pictures to guide you, but if like me you were brought up assembling Meccano as a child, shouldn’t present a problem as long as you study the pictures before assembly and have the right tools to hand.
- There are no tools supplied, so you will need a small 8mm spanner (or ideally two) but if you want to speed things up, an 8mm nut spinner on the end of an electric drill makes life so much easier. If you are not using a drill, be prepared to spend ages tightening the nuts and bolts! There are lots of them.
- Tighten everything up finger tight first to make sure everything goes together, before doing the final tightening of all the nuts and bolts.
- The instructions show the shelves being assembled first, but as per the picture leave the end cross bits off until last, as otherwise, you won’t be able to tighten the nuts hidden underneath them.
- I made up the bottom shelf first, then attached the four legs, then made up the top shelf next and attached that, before fitting the corner struts at 45 degrees and the two end bracing bars.
- Once I was happy everything was in place, I tightened all the nuts and bolts, using my 8mm spanner on the nut and my handheld battery drill with the torque setting low, to tighten the bolts from the other side.
- Take careful note of where the holes are in the various parts of metal in the illustration. The diagrams are spot on, and if you pay attention to those pictures, everything will fit the first time.
- So good luck and enjoy this product. It took me around 90 minutes to assemble, and I’m very pleased with it. It’s now in the greenhouse and being used to store lots of plants for the coming winter period.
