This gardening book has an average rating of 4.7 out of 5. It has a 5* percentage of 78% from over 130 purchases. It is a very popular book for gardeners. Here is what some of the purchases have said about the book:-
This is one of the best books I own. As I am a professional landscape architect/garden designer, my library ‘du metier’ is fairly extensive, so I know of what I speak!
I am constantly urging my clients towards ‘designed’ productive gardening – good for you, good for wildlife, good for the planet – what is there to lose? Although most are keen to try a few vegetables and/or herbs, there seems to be an irrational fear of fruit trees. This book should dispel all such fears.
It tells you literally everything you need to know and directs you to further sources of information should you want to get into specialist detail. With careful siting and planting and knowledge of basic pruning techniques you will achieve a garden of great interest and beauty (do please remember that fruit trees do not necessarily have to be planted in rows) for modest financial outlay and minimal ongoing maintenance.
I cannot recommend this book too highly. I first bought the kindle version (and yes it is a good read) which I now intend to supplement with the paperback version, for ease of reference.

This gardening book has an average rating of 4.6 out of 5. It has a 5* percentage of 69% from over 400 purchases. It is a very popular book for gardeners. Here is what some of the purchases have said about the book:-
I bought this book based on the amazing reviews and when it arrived I did like the cover, size, pictures, but when I leafed through it I thought, well another book for my bookcase. Because it gives mainly tips for beginners and since I have been growing things on my terrace for some time now I thought I knew all of it.
Well, the book proved me wrong. When you go through the obvious tips, you discover that there are many other “minor” tips that I have never read about in books before (and believe me, I have quite a few books at home and also keep browsing the internet for some useful tips).
And what is more, some of the “hidden” tips make perfect sense and I am just wondering why no one has even told me before.
To sum it up – a lovely book that is useful for beginners as well for more experienced terrace gardeners. The best book of this sort that I own now.

- As a new veg grower (spinach, lettuce, radish basil & spring onions, since lockdown) with a small garden, I just wanted some pointers at what and how to grow a bit of veg in the small area that I had. After receiving the book I found a nice shady spot to sit in the garden with a cup of tea and became totally submerged in this easy to follow book. It became apparent that my small space was ideal for growing an abundance and variety of veg on every aspect – even north facing! I can’t wait to pop some runner beans and sweetcorn in amongst my flowers and shrubs, and am looking into vertical growing for the south facing garage wall, which currently is bare and unsightly. I’m going to repurpose large TK Max bags for growing potatoes and am hunting out anything that will hold soil to plant in. The book is a nice size to handle – not too big, and the cover is colourful and designed beautifully. The font and layout is easy to follow – just wish the contents list of veg at the beginning was in alphabetical order, but that’s not too much of a problem really. Glad I purchased this book, and together with Veg in One Bed that I have on order, my garden will hopefully soon be transformed!
